hello smfforfree staff!

1st suggestion: i would like to suggest you to have subforum on advertise your board/blog(forum) like music, computers and internets, games and rpg, sports and hobbies, graphics, etc.. members will post their forum on the correct section so that the guests finding forums will not be annyed in classifying forums if they are music, graphics, computers and internets,, the guests will be have the time to navigate easily,,

2nd suggestion: i also suggest you to allow members to post the latest updates on their forum for every 24 hours,, well,, this is not called a bumping... if they bump without any reason,, lock their topics,, they can post about the latest news and changes so that the guests will know that the forum they are finding are still active.. just have a rules about it.. besides i think 90% percent of the forum created here are dying because guests doesn't know if the forum they will look is active ,you might help your members with this and they will be going back  and back on smfforfree support forum ,you should also do this if you approved the 1st suggestion...

Sorry,  I dont like either idea.
Subforum categories -   people rarely post in the correct areas on forums as it is.   This would require more work by the Moderators in making sure the Ads are placed in the correct areas.    One Board is plenty for the ads.

We do not allow bumping or replying to Ads in the Ad board (In the early days of SMF for Free we used to but after much abuse we realized it was a dumb idea) -  doing so only causes people to come in on a daily basis and keep bumping thier ads up to keep thiers at the top of the list - the newer ads wind up lost in the shuffle.    There are two threads stickied to the top of that board that explain the rules.    If you bump your ad, the post is removed and the ad is locked.     People seem to think the newer ards are the only ones checked.   That is not true.      Your statement about 90 percent of forums dying because guests do not know if the forums are actice or not - we periodically go thru and remove ads for inactive/removed forums.    Also no forum owner should expect their forum to be busy soley on the members they gain from this forum or the SMF for Free community in general.    Placing an Ad here is only one way of Advertising your forum on the internet.
