Paid Subscriptions
« on: August 01, 2010, 08:11:18 pm »
Paid Subscriptions option (like on Create A Forum) would make a great addition to SMFForFree forums. That way Forum owners would be capable of making money via subscriptions others have made to get into a higher membergroup (or whatever there is to offer) and provide SMFForFree with a percentage of that money.  :)

I've seen people do that with donation buttons. If you donate, you get in a special membergroup with more permissions or whatever.

And that works for getting higher ranks also...

The Paid Subscriptions system is built into the smf2.0 software that Create a Forum uses.   He would have to come up with and code something that would work with the 1.* forums that run on SMF for Free.    Just a point of info  ;)

This suggestion is brilliant.  But it might get SMF For Free a bit more income if SMF For Free sets up a system that forwards 10% or 5% of the payment amount directly pointed to his PayPal account, or any other payment method.

Would be a great idea.

By default with paypal you can't do it. Unless your write an app and get approved.
But it isn't something I would want to split anyway

Yes, true.  But if you write your own application you can make a system that forwards at least 10% of the payment amount to your credit, you'll have some income of that system.

Create A Forum is using SMF version RC2+ and SMF For Free is using 1.* - The paid subscriptions will only be available if SMF For Free upgrades all accounts to SMF RC2+ which I do not think is possible.
