But there are certain rules that your forum has to abide by, and it would be best to leave it how it is. I don't want people joining my forum and unknowingly break a rule that they didn't know existed because I forgot to list it and end up breaking a ToS that I would've otherwise obeyed.

If we could make up our own rules, that would be fine, but there are rules even we have to obey.

I agree with you sop.  The tos rules are for smf and are by default to the software,
Why not as I did. just make up rules for your individual forum.
