[request] Aion plugin for simple machines
« on: November 11, 2009, 02:26:20 pm »
Hello,

Forum Url: http://unleashed.freesmfhosting.com

The plugin link: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2085

I would like to ask for this plugin to become available.

My forum already exists at your host for some time, and we (our comunity) now play in Aion (a very popular mmorpg). This plugin permits us to post a game item name, and see it's details on mouse over. This will be extremely usefull, for any forum of aion legions in your hosts and should also boost the forum usage due to this feature making it easy to have a list of legion warehouse, etc, that can be consulted.

Thank you for your attention. I look forward to a reply.

Any Mods that are installed would be installed on all forums.   Since that Mod is for something that few forums would need or use and is aimed at AionSource related forums I doubt it would be added.   Its not something most of our forums would need.

I'll ask here, as it goes in sequence of the previous question.

It was decided to move out, so that we can control the plugins, i did some research and saw that you don't provide the backup of the forum for people wanting to move to their own or diferent server. At least not for free.

And that is what i wish to ask, is there any possibility (paying a fee for it) to get a copy of the forum files? The forum already has some years and will be a shame to loose all the members database and forum contents/configurations. So if there is a possibility to buy those files from you, i would like to know. Thank you.

Looking forward to a reply.

Database backups are not offered.
SMF for Free has modified the software for use for this service - there are good reasons for why a backup is not provided.   He used to do so, years ago, at a very high fee.    That practice stopped a long time ago.

Thank you for the very fast reply. It is shame indeed then. I am sure you have your reasons of course.
Not making my life as a legion leader any easy ;) but i understand in someway.

I wish you guys best of luck and success with your project. :) And thank you for the good support over the last years. :)

PS: As we can not move the data, after i do the move, I will leave the forum "open" as for consultation of the game info in there gathered. Hope it does not represent a problem. Is there any way to quickly "lock" a full board instead of just a topic one by one?

If you want to leave it there for archive purposes and not allow further posting, instead of locking them all up you could set each Board to read only.    Admin > Boards  > Permissions by Board.  Set each board to read only.   That or go thru and Modify permissions so that none of your Membergroups can post.

Should you decide to just lock them:

First go to your Profile > Look and Layout Preferences.
Set Show quick-moderation on message index to "checkboxes"

Then go to the Board Index for the Board you want to lock the topics for.
At the top right corner click the little box in the header.   That will choose all topics on that page in that Board.
Go to the bottom of the page - use the dropdown box and choose "Lock Selected" then click GO

If you have a LOT of topics in the boards go to Posts and Topics and set the amount of topics per page to show to a high number - it'll make it go quicker for you.

good luck!

That's a very nice tip. :)
I do think i will be faster to mark the boards as read only, having in consideration the forum size, definitly what i am going to use :)

But the quick moderation is a nice hint for ppl to know about smf. :)

thank you once more for your answers.
