To shorten your url so you dont have to keep typing in smfforfree2.com you can either bookmark your site (so you dont have to type it in), or you can get a redirection url. Just do a google search. There are tons of sites that offer them.

Thats all it will do though is shorten your url. If you want to be able to keep your posts, you will need to host the forum on your own server/computer. That wont help you with the current forum, but if its somthing you really want, I would recommend doing it now and geting your members converted over. It means starting your forum over again, but its easier to do that now, then later on down the road when your current forum is twice its current size. In addition to being able to save all the posts on a backup, you also will then have access to all the mods that SMFForFree does not offer.  ;)

Unfortunately, no. As I stated already, using a redirection url with your current forum - all that does is shorten your url. SMF does not offer backups anymore so, simply put, you have no way of getting one for your current forum.

Kimmie is correct about mysmf.

There are no database backups for any of the servers.

To help make this clear that includes:
smfforfree.com
smfforfree2.com
smfforfree3.com
mysmf.com
freesmfhosting.com

You can not transfer your forum from one server to another.
If you make a new forum you will start from scratch - posts, etc. cannot be transfered over.

Okay, in your administration panel you can probably find a thing that allows you to change the smfforfree part, so it would e smf4free, I found that a while ago on my old forum.
