You can change it if you use the image swapper,

(as mentioned in here: http://www.smfsupport.com/support/guides_and_tutorials/guide_using_an_image_swapper-t3818.0.html;msg19003#msg19003)

on the -/+ icons that are at the top. 

If I understand Sibyl correcty , that will force the -/+ in the quick reply to change to change also.

Yeah it "should".    Any of the images name expand.gif and collapse.gif will change to the new image in the code when it finds them.

btw... take note that the link for the image swapper page no longer works (gets a 404 error)   I edited the first post on that page and put the way to do it manually there so people can still do it.
