It "protects" the boards you choose, with the password you choose for that board.

The reason why I put protects in quotes is because there's always a way around the code.

hi Agent Moose,

will you also realease a topic protection code? I am more interested in a topic protection, as I already found another board protection mod...or why dont you just make it both compliant?!...so it will work for board or topic, as the user wants :-)

thanks,

e-mo

hi e-mo

Moose has said he is unable to do so.
This is not a mod btw...   I know you had posted that you have installed a mod before, which means you are not using one of our hosted forums.   You need to use simplemachines.org for support for your forum.

hi simply..

yeah, I know it is a script only..but I think it already does, whatever I am actually looking for.
the mod I installed...I already undid it, as I couldnt use it for my purpose.

there was a person, whos nick is STEVIE, he modied agent moose v1 version to protect topics but again...here you only can protect 1 topic :( I need it for several topics and would like to be able to just enter the topic ID and its related password...just as the new v2 version of this script.

or can someone help me to modify this script: http://smcodes.smfforfree3.com/index.php/topic,431.0.html so I could enter more than just 1 topic to be protected?

hm...I am thinking I shouldnt be posting it here right?!

e-mo if this is for your non SMF for Free forum then that is correct - you should not be posting here for support.     This forum is for SMF for Free hosted forums only.

Moose made it very clear in the directions in the first post that it is not possible to do that

See his quote below:

PLEASE NOTE:
There will not be a code to password protect the recent posts.  This can not be done!

The code password protects the board(s) you choose to protect with it - it effects everyone and is not/ can not be by membergroup.

Moose also stated there is a way around it, as there is with all password protect codes posted here.   There is nothing that can be done about that - anyone can easily find the password and using password protect annoys regular members as they constantly have to input the password.   (Im trying to be helpful here -  you want the forum easy for your members to use)

The BEST  and ONLY way to absolutely not allow specific Membergroups to view specific boards is to use the Boards settings and uncheck those Membergroups.    Create an introductory/information thread about the forum that contains information about Boards that are available to specific MemberGroups.

You can lead a horse to water but you can not make it drink.
The trick is organization and making things simple for your members.   YOU know where everything is and how they can access it because you set it up.    Don't overload them with information - they won't read it.  Keep clutter to a minimum.    Give them the information in a concise, short, simple thread that explains the purpose of the forum, the membergroups, and access.    Keep it simple!
