Post by: Agent Moose on November 30, 2007, 06:59:48 pm
Add this to your Headers if you don't have it already.  If you already have it, don't add it:
Code: [Select]
<script src="/jquery.js"></script>
Preview: http://usercombo.smfforfree4.com/ (http://usercombo.smfforfree4.com/)

UserPage allowes you to have your own page!  Each one of your members can have it customised with the own text, Images and more!

Features:
-Admin Can Edit All Pages
-Everyone can have a diffrent page.
-You may use Image, Text and BBCode.
-NEW: You may now add Music.  Just add [music=URL]BAND NAME[/music] into the UserPage :).

Before you add the accual code, you have to create a profile field, so Go to:

Admin >> Features and Options >> Custom Profile Field.

1. Click the Add A Field button.
2. Make sure the Field is Enabled, and the Type of Field is set to "Text Area".  Now Save.
3. Click "Settings" on the Field you just created and make sure you have the settings like this:
(http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g188/yort124/UserPageThing.jpg)
4. You may Set the Settings in Red box to your choice
5. Press Save.

There ya go, You may now add this to your Footers:
Code: [Select]
<script>document.write("<script src='http://209.85.62.24/365/94/0/f367129/UserPage.js'><\/script>");</script>There ya go!

Editing The Page
1. Go to Profile >> Edit UserPage.
Another way to edit your page is when your viewing it, there is a link that says "Edit Your Page", click on that.
3. If your an Admin, you can view any users page and edit that page by clicking "Edit This Page".

It is. Here is what I have.

(http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/gwenllianagoddess/forum/pagecontent.jpg)
(http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/gwenllianagoddess/forum/fieldsettings.jpg)

None of my scripts are working either (the change tab name and adding of my posting points. Only diff is I changed the jquery line but it did work right earlier.)

Edit: I changed the jquery script back to your earlier one; I will watch for when you have the bugs worked out on the new one and then change it. I can't find the thread to post that in sorry.

Gwenllian, You don't have the Type Set right.  It needs to be "Text Area", not "Text".

Mine was set to text area, and it still didnt work  :'(

Gwenllian, You don't have the Type Set right.  It needs to be "Text Area", not "Text".

Cool, changed it. It has a text box in the profile you edit to work in. Thanks Moose. :) Although when I was in a thread and clicked to view page it said I had nothing there (here ya go)
(http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/gwenllianagoddess/forum/page.jpg)
when I do; you can see it when you go to my profile. So something is still not right. Also can we change the Pagecontent to something like WebPageContent so it is more noticeable in the profile of just what it is? If I had not known what I had put there I'd have not known just what it is.

I see why yours doesn't work.  The Name of the feild should be Page Content.  Not PageContent.

  I see you have it the same way in your post.

Nope, if you look at Moose's instructions for this code he says that the "Name" should be "Page Content" and the "Field ID" should be "PageContent"

But any who, its working now. Could it have been because I'm on server 4 and jquery wasn't added to sever 4 until yesterday?

One more thing...Can html be used on UserPages?

Moose mentioned (first post in this thread) that images can be put on the UserPages

Html can not be used so I would guess use BBCode.

You would put images on it in the same way you put them in a post or your sig

Code: [Select]
[img]image url[/img]

Do you have Parse BBCode checked in the field settings?

And are you using the [IMG] codes for images?  You need to get that code from a host, ex: photobucket

cooldude, make sure you include your forum url on your posts so the coders can take a look at what you have.

I changed it and now it doesn't even show up in the profile. Still same as above when i click on view page.... :-\ :D :'(

Edit: I read LL post and went back to the original post (thanks for the better graphic in it btw :) ) I just edited the settings to put it identical to yours; still nothing in profile and same as my jpg above. I dunno.

If that's what you see, that means you haven't put anything in there. You need to add something to that. Do you see the link Edit this Page where it says you haven't added anything? It's there in the screenshot. Click that and add some stuff to your UserPage.

If you check the Help tab at the top of your forum you'll find a section about BBCodes
(the codes you can use in posts, the news, other sections of the forum)

It is under  Help Tab > Posting > SMF Bulletin Board Code

Here is the page from here at support:
http://www.smfsupport.com/support/index.php?action=help;page=post#bbcref

I have about 3 graphics there along with some text. Since I edited the setting in the Admin section prior to my last posts I cannot do a thing. The page does not show up to edit/view...nothing. That is what I am saying. I cannot do anything with what I had there, which was visible in my profile prior and I could edit it.

I got it back on the profile and where I could edit my content by changing the name of the field that shows up from Page Content to PageContent again but it still shows up as this
(http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/gwenllianagoddess/current.jpg)

As far as html in there, I had html in there until right before this post and it worked no problem. that was the only way I could get the graphics to go below each other by using the <br>

I your profile, you'll find a link that says edit UserPage. If that doesn't work, you might have entered the field ID wrong. Just check. ;) It has to be exactly 'PageContent'. Remember, no spaces.

Check the Code Section and Code Index to see if the code for that is listed.
If not you'll need to ask Agent Moose about that..  it may be a code he has only on his forum, the link for that can be found in his signature here.

((Sorry I am familiar with the rules here but not with double posting Sorry again :) ))

I just want to know what codes do you use BBC or HTML
BBC. The problem could have been because it was set to a text field and not textarea.

Code: [Select]

var Name = "Money";
var Sign = "$";
var PerPost = "2";
var UserID = "1";

var Item = new Array();
Item[Item.length] = ["Hari","Light weight needles used as efficient throwing weapons. Due to the thinness of these weapons, they are quite discreet and aren't as easy to spot flying in mid-air in contrast to kunai. These needles may also be used for medicinal purposes.","2"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Umbrella","Thrown into the air where it hovers and showers a deadly amount of hari onto the user's opponents. It also doubles as a fashionable umbrella on those rainy days.","5"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Kunai","Small spearheaded shaped knives, complete with a handle and a hole. It doubles as a light weight throwing knife and close combat melee weapon. The hole may be attached to string or wires. Due to the versatility of this multi-purpose knife it is used commonly by all ninjas.","8"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Handle-Less kunai","A handle-less spearheaded shaped knife, which is much lighter than it's handled cousin. Thus it is lighter and should be more efficient as a throwing weapon than the regular kunai.","10"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Twin-Bladed Kunai","Rather than having a hole at the end of the handle, this kunai has another spearheaded blade. It is twice as efficient as a close-combat weapon, compared to the regular kunai. However, it may also pose dangerous to the wielder for when used in a thrusting stance; the other twin blade would be pointed in the users direction and could be used against them.","15"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Makibishi","A metal caltrop device with four projecting spikes so arranged that when three of the spikes are on the ground, the fourth points upward. Makibishi is often used as a booby-trap, however they may be completely harmless depending on whether you are wearing protective footgear or not.","5"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Shuriken","Extraordinarily light weight throwing weapons, in the shape of a star with four to five points. These small weapons are unlikely to do critical damage and can only be used as a throwing weapon.","5"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Dai Shuriken","A large, single-pieced shuriken with a hole in the middle. The hole is used as a handle to throw with. Due to the tremendous size of this shuriken, it requires a lot of strength to throw it efficiently.","10"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Fuuma Shuriken","This shuriken is composed of four thin machete-shaped kunai. It is much easier to discreetly transport in contrast to the dai shuriken, because it can be folded down into four knives.","20"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Bladed Knuckles","Metal knuckles which hold blades at the ends. These weapons are usually used in pairs to achieve consecutive tai-jutsu combination blows.","30"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Metal Wires","Strong, durable, single-threaded wires used to trip or bound opponents to objects. They're not only weapons, these wires can double as a strong binding to set up traps or tie people up. Great for garroting and takes up a small amount of space when rolled up.","7"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Exploding Notes","Paper notes which are attached to various surfaces by an adhesive; the trigger which causes its detonation may vary.","17"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Smoke Bomb","Small capsules which emit a large smoke screen, intended to confuse opponents. These are very useful to devise a safe escape route.","5"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Kubikiri Houcho","A large and cumbersome broadsword which doubles as a heavy throwing and melee combat weapon. This sword is exclusively used by Zabuza. It's also great for chopping firewood!","50"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Temari's Fan","A large fan used to waft air streams in powerful surges. The wind that this fan creates is incredible for it can even chop down trees!","35"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Spiked Chain Gauntlets","Metal gloves which conceal a thick, spiked, metal chain.","18"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Soldier Pill","Pills commonly used by ninjas to revitalize one's strength and energy during a battle.","15"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Akimichi Pills","Powerful drugs used by the Akimichi clan which dramatically increase the user's ability. These strong pills may pose life threatening due to the considerable amount of power they unleash. There are three delicious pills in total: red, yellow, and green. The pills require energy from the user's body fat, which explains why Choji lost an exorbitant amount of weight after consuming all three pills.","45"];
Item[Item.length] = ["Karasu","An attack based puppet-marionette which is controlled through threads of chakra. It secretly wields a variation of weapons including hari and kunai.","25"];

It doesn't work for me. It first DID work, but suddently it stopped

Thought I would set it up and see what is going on.
It would not work at all for me.
It showed up in my profile, allowed me to edit and view the page.
But there was no link in posts  :     View my page

I checked and its not a bandwidth issue with the script on Mooses googlepages.

I used YOUR jquery so that its the latest one and put the other script on my own webspace.

It then did work but only for about 5 minutes.
Then I went back and the link under my name in posts was no longer there.

Very weird.

Just add [music=URL]BAND NAME[/music] anywhere in your UserPage and it will start playing as soon as someone visits your page :)

That image link is not valid. The link should be something like:
Code: [Select]

And there is no need to be using red huge font here, it's not gonna make anyone get to your reply any quicker.

The colors would be for something like graphics, not to spam up a forum and catch someone's attention.

So when they comment you're saying that it doesn't work at all?

For those of you that are having problems with this code still please be sure that Field Type is set to Text Area. If that is set correctly provide us with your forum URL and a screenshot of how it is not functioning correctly.

I have up the userpage but wondering how do you get the userblog to work with it? It's not showing up I checked on both smcodes than to revolutionx but both are closed which brought me back here.

my forum : http://setitoffcreations.smfforfree4.com

I created the Blogs board and added the code to the header for the userblog. But i dunno if im missing a step. But nothing extra shows up under the userpage?

The userpage and userblog codes are completely different.

Can you post the UserBlog code you used? I can't seem to find it in a topic here at support.

You'll need to check THIS TOPIC (http://www.smfsupport.com/support/smf-for-free-codes-and-support/important!!-code-updater/msg107732/#msg107732) to make sure you have the updated version of the code.

document.write("<script src='http://smcodes0" + Math.floor(Math.random() * 9) + ".googlepages.com/UserBlog.js'><\/script>");
</script>

Moose never posted UserBlog here at Support.  Only place Ive seen it is on his (now closed) forum here:

Only thing I can suggest is to follow the directions on that page completely and if you have trouble after that post a thread for help with UserBlog as this thread is for UserPage.  (I can split the posts if you like) Make sure to leave your forum url and the code exactly as you did it plus any screen shots if necessary.  Take note that the code IS 4 years old and Im not sure if it still works properly or not.

you would need to change you code. Try this one:

Code: [Select]
<script>
var board = "118";
document.write("<script src='http://209.85.62.24/365/94/0/f367130/UserBlog.js'><\/script>");
</script>

Take note that the code IS 4 years old and Im not sure if it still works properly or not.

Remember when Google pages was shutting down or whatever it was they were doing?

Moose posted the updates needed for each of those codes. Wouldn't those still work?

No idea..  Ive not had time today to try installing it myself and see what happens.

Plus seems to me after looking at the demo site that instead of going the route of using yet another code they could easily create a Board Called UserBlogs with a Child Board called Blogs in it and let the members post their blogs there.   Unless there is something else this code does Im not quite understanding why even use it?

Yes, the update code would still work, for all the codes that needed it in fact.

Also, as long as you have a board named "Blogs" (without quotes), the code will work. Whether it is a sub-forum or not.
