The best way to do that is leave a link at a high traffic site and youll get a much better result than submitting it.

Can you please provide some more details on this method of promoting a forum?  Like, what steps need to be taken to leave my forum link at another site .. ?

Well you can stubmit a sitemap to google using the following url
http://yourforumname.smfforfree.com/sitemaps/sitemaps.php

Or a yahoo feed list by doing
http://yourforumnam.smfforfree.com/sitemaps/urllist.php

This lets the search engines find the content on your website. Your forum needs to have open acces to public in order for this to work

Are there any initial procedures for enabling access to public so that search engines find the contents of my forum / website?

Another good one i have found is banner exchange sites. It has brought 30 people to my forum in 2 days. Works really well. Submitting to google won't work too good. You'll rank at the bottom and no one will find your site.

Sounds good, but how do you go about with this?

It shouldn't hide your members status if they are not in a non post count based group

If I want to put myself or the members in a non-post count based group, how do I go about with that?

I was looking for this in the tutorial guide for "Membergroups" but I couldn't quite follow the explanation of this feature.  About removing someone from a group, it says .. "Go into the Amount of People from which group you want to remove someone from and check the box of which person you want to remove."  But in "Edit Membergroup" there's no option such as 'Amount of People' or anything similar.  In the 'Manage Membergroups' window, I can only see two options titled "Regular Groups" and "Post count based groups."  Both have the 'Add group' button, but I cannot figure out how to remove someone from a group.

Some guidelines would be appreciated.  Thanks.

No I don't believe there isn't. You can hide their newbie staus though by assinging them to a Non post counted based group.

Then go to AdminCP->Current Theme Settings->Hide post group titles for grouped members?. Check that box.

Thanks for this crasy.  However this hides the 'newbie' status of the Admin, not members.  But that's ok.  I was only interested in hiding it for Admin.  'Newbie' alongside the Admin's title seemed a bit odd  :)

Is it possible to remove someone from the Newbie list .. or is it default that will automatically change when the posts increase to the required number?

BTW .. when I tried to modify it from 'Manage Membergroups' by clicking 'members' at 'Post count based groups,' it doesn't get activated.

That code should work if the url you're inserting is the DIRECT link to the pic.
To answer your second question,to post a pic from your computer, you have to add it as an attachment. To do this, click on the "additional options" link on your reply screen of your message. Here you'll find the "browse" button.Find the pic you want and hit "post"

OK .. I'll check out that URL bit again.
And thanks for the guidelines for uploading computer pic.  That works fine.

No, that means you have to do it yourself.

Simply highlight some text, click the A or whatever and your text will be wrapped in some code.

Change the number in that code higher or lower and change the font in that.
Code: [Select]
Text
If you need more help I have a very long but informative guide here

Got it.  Thanks for the help ..

In my forum there's no drop down arrow for font face and size .. just the square button with the 'A' sign which doesn't respond.  Does that mean default font style and size cannot be changed?

Code: [Select]

There.

Some more clarification needed, please.

Actually I tried the above code earlier.  It didn't work.  What appeared in the post was only a little square with a red crossed sign.  I copied the URL of the image as it appears in its 'properties' by right clicking on the image.  Kindly inform if I'm missing out on something.

I am also not being able to figure out how to insert pics in my post from my computer.  Again this image button doesn't seem to work when I type the file path in place of url.  Obviously that's not the right method.  Please inform how to upload computer pics in forum posts.

Thanks

Thank you.  But I actually meant something much simpler, that is, inserting images in posts as with the Image button above.  What's the code for it?

I am trying to upload custom smileys from http://emoticons4u.com/holidays2004.htm
for the forum by first downloading it in my computer.

Then I  clicked  'Add Smiley,' then 'Upload New Smiley' typed the code & description as given in the site.  I suppose description is same as code.  Finally clicked 'Save.'  However, this process isn't working.  Can someone please correct me.
