General Support / Random Banner Question
« on: February 09, 2008, 08:31:37 pm »
Forum Url: http://gemstone.smfforfree.com
Does anyone have a link that shows what a random banner looks please?

I was actually hunting for a marquee type banner/image box like the ones at the top of the forum I am moving from. Is there a code for these marquee type boxes?

General Support / RSS Question
« on: February 09, 2008, 01:32:19 pm »
I am far from being an expert with this, so bear with me..

I would like to have my forum set up like this one. Notice the feed chicklets for rss subscription within each board.

So.., using this as an example for the rss for the main page of my forum:

http://<mymainpageforumname>.smfforfree3.com/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml

Then I think I need to burn a feed for each board to obtain the rss chicklet feed icon

So....., as an example, the following board pages rss url to burn might look like:

http://<forumfirstboardpage>.smfforfree3.com/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml
http://<forumsecondboardpage>.smfforfree3.com/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml

Am I on track?  :coolsmiley:

I must have set something somewhere that resulted in the forum not being able to be viewed to guests and even members until logged in. :o

Can someone please tell me where I need to go to change it back so that the forum can be viewed by anyone at any time. :)

Thank you  :knuppel2:

or

2.   Go to the Stylesheet Index,  click the link for Helious Red .. grab the code and install it.
The instructions to install it are at the top of the Index.

Stylesheet Index

Window number two did the trick !

Thank you !

Try this:

Admin > Manage Styles

Under Style Picker: on the main part of the screen click the arrow and scroll down to Heliosred the click Pick Forum Style

If that doesn't work check back and see if somebody else has any ideas LOL

I tried this and it changes back to the default style.

It's sort of strange that the Sample Styles work perfectly fine. They load right up, but when I try the drop down menu and try the Heliosred (a user created style), it just does not want to work.

More help please?

There are some styles in Manage Styles already.  Helious red is one of them.

Admin > Manage Styles
Scroll to the bottom
Click on the Helious Red Thumbnail and it will install it for you.

I thought it should be that simple, but it did not change the look of my forum to the Helious Red.

I am off to bed, will have to check in with this tomorrow.

Night.....

Stylesheet Requests and Support / Where to find css for stylesheets??
« on: February 07, 2008, 09:47:46 pm »
Forum Url: http://gemstone.smfforfree.com
I am not sure on the right track, but typed in the style called "heliosred"

I think I am suppose to delete the existing css and replace it with the css for the heliosred style.

I have looked but do not understand where to find the heliosred css to paste in there.

I am sure it is right under my nose, but cant find it.  :uglystupid2:

Can someone please send me to a link that has that css?

Man, I am off to a great start  ???

I went through the motions of creating a forum. Decided to pay for the add free forum. Ended up in paypal and have no idea where my forum is or account info or where to go to start working on the forum. :coolsmiley:

The url that I picked for the forum comes back as does not exist.

I am lost......... :uglystupid2:

I am probably going to set up a SMF forum. I presently have one with ProBoard. The biggest reason for the switch is I would like to have RSS available.

I don't really want my newly set up SMF forum to show up in any way online until I am completely set up and ready to make the switch

Will it show up as soon as I begin to set it up?

Thank you and looking forward to SMF !   :knuppel2:
