General Support / Re: members say they can not PM anyone or me

Tell me if things got fixed. I deleted the old permissions.

SMF For Free
Me again.. (hurry run) LOL.

Of course when I'm signed in I have my PM option along with "show the last posts of this person" and "Show the general statistics for this member".

But since no one can see their PM link in the profiles, I'm wondering if it's because I have the view profiles turned off?

Here is what happens ..Click onto view a members profile and you get this "An error occured "Many apologies but you just can't view any profile".

I'm just wondering if I turn that permission back on, if it will allow the members to send PM????
It's the only thing I can think of

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR TIME WELL SPENT!!!!

If it is still happening you can give my person "testsmf" admin access and I will take a look.

SMF For Free

LOL..How do I do that? Go to my Adminstrator controls and add this "testsmf" name as Admistrator? if so, I think I can do that ;)
Thanks for all that you are doing, it's appreciated VERY much.

update:
I checked under user profile settings it shows :
"Show the last posts of this person"
"Show general statistics forthismember".
But the third option is missing, that is to send them a PM.

Where exactly do I go under my Adminstrotor settingsto check this , so they can have this availableto them?
I hope I'm not bugging you, but attendance is down in the forum ;(

I would try resetting all the permissions. Have you touched any of the permission settings lately?

SMF For Free
I haven't touched the settings yet, but this is what it shows under MANAGE PERMISSIONS Allowed 30 Denied 0

Under MODIFY GROUP it shows ALLOW READ PM SEND PM...

Is there another place I can go look at to what may cause members not be able to send PM?
I was able last night to send out a PM and the member was able to reply back through it twince to me.
Thanks so much in advance!

Since when does the forum start useing members first names?? Below is from one of my member and what she is encontering, along with a few others trying to use the PM.s:
An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry karyl, you are banned from using this forum!

Reason: BAD REQUEST URL NOT FOUND

OK here is what I just got in trying to reply to your PM.  So I feel really bad now lol!
And when I clicked on any posts' names or your name it gave me the same error message as before.

This happens when they click on a members nameAn Error Has Occurred!
Many apologies, but you can't view just any profile

This happens when they click on my profile and another members.
An Error Has Occurred!
You can't view the memberlist because you don't have permission to

Below is from my Adminstrator controls. Do I need to check or uncheck these so they can send PM ? These were the only changes I did recently, due to a problem with a flamer that come to my board and bombarded it with hateful posts.

Show members list bar on board index?
Show current position in forum as link instead of text?
Show view profile button under post?

Can you find out what the error message is?
Make sure that the permissions are set for PM for members.

I just posted asking those who are having problems to send me their error messages.

What you think about having these added to the default them.
User's Online Today and User Group Legend

User's Online Today show who has been online today.

User Group Legend shows the active groups using the forum.

I like this idea :)
As I would like my site to appear more active than it really is. People come to read, not post.

Could someone please tell me how to get my shout box in the proper place...I keep coming up with click cbox here at the very bottom of my forum....
Hello.
I put my code inside my News Box and adjusted the width and height larger to read it more easily.
Check it out on my site http://whatailsyou.smfforfree.com/.
Just make sure the tiny news box and stats are NOT put at the top if you like the way my site looks.
