General Chat / Introduction

Forum Url: http://weeklyqbasicandqb64lesson.smfforfree.com/
My first posts, oops! sorry, Hello my name is Garry,
Originally my firsts posts were just questions I had when I first started my forum, for programming, in qb64 and qbasic, and was impressed by the prompt responses I got to those questions. Later I have browsed thru some of the other things, in this forum, and enjoy looking and reading alot of the topics,
especially the avatars, and graphics.
Here is a link to some things I have done most recently:
http://s1140.photobucket.com/albums/n566/GarryRicketson/
and then my website:
http://www.garryspages.webs.com
All of these, are just as a hobbie for me, they are non commercial, I put the links in, not so much as to try to promote anything, but by shareing them, it shows pretty much, what my interest are, who I am, etc ....
I do enjoy communicateing with people, when they share similar interests, and enjoy looking at other websites and forums, allthough I am only a memeber to 3  or 4 forums, includeing this one, so any way I guess thats about it, nice meeting everyone, that has posted in this forum, I still have not read every post, but there seem to be a lot of interesting people that check in from time to time.
and a special thanks to SMF for free for makeing this possible, if at anytime there is anything I can do to help, feel free to let me know, (ask)

General Support / Set post permissions
« on: March 11, 2011, 08:02:46 am »
Forum Url: http://weeklyqbasicandqb64lesson.smfforfree.com/
How do I set posting permissions to a specific Category, or what would be the best way to do this. In the category DEMOS, it is read only, for the general public and members, but I want to set it up, so that when a member has 5 posts he/she may post also in this category.

Programming / QB64 ,Qbasic , tutorials and lessons
« on: February 26, 2011, 01:25:07 am »
Forum Url: http://weeklyqbasicandqb64lesson.smfforfree.com/
Qb64 is for windows, useing the qbasic style language, it is still under developement. I like it and it is my first and actually the only language I use, it was great for learning, the devlopement and advances made in qb64 has given it capabilitys, equal to C+ or almost,...so this is a forum I started, I invite anyone interested, to check it out.  Also, http://www.qb64.net directly related to the developement of qb64
 My weekly lesson forum  http://weeklyqbasicandqb64lesson.smfforfree.com/
I apologize for the slowness, hope fully I can get that worked out.

General Support / Slow, extremely slow
« on: February 26, 2011, 01:02:02 am »
Forum Url: http://weeklyqbasicandqb64lesson.smfforfree.com/
Hello,
I am sorry, I hate to complain, and I realize when some thing is for free, it may be some what limited,...But I am wondering if this is normal, my forum, a fairly new one, is extreemely slow, and even worse when I try to do any work, as ADMIN, setting up categorys, new boards etc,...for example just now it took, 3 hours, just
to set up 3 sub categorys, or child boards, the process is a simple enough thing,..
but each time, it takes, close to an hour, when one change is saved, then to re-load, the next item selected, takes another 15 or 20 min to load....Just to read one post can take, half an hour, to get to that category, then another 20 minuets,
to open the topic I want to read,..and after, if I want to reply, another 20 minuets, for the reply editor to load ? I do not have this problem on other forums,
at other sites,...so it is not my computer, In fact the support forum here, loads
reasonabley promptly,...Is there anything I can do to change this,..?
Thank you From Garry

General Support / People unable to register
« on: February 24, 2011, 07:34:16 pm »
Forum Url: http://weeklyqbasicandqb64lesson.smfforfree.com/
Aparrently no one can register to my forum, I have checked my settings, etc, and can not find any reason, Also the admin option, is painfully slow, it can take hours, just to modify a board, or make a minor change.
From what they tell me they are getting the enter the captcha letters shown, but no letters are shown, or they are accused of being known spammers and can not register, Is the whole world "known Spammers" ?....This is not a very good way to start new forum, accuseing potential new members of being spammers, before they even have registered or posted anything. Not counting the embarresment for me to invite someone, then they can not register. All though I have been able to register them, via the admin, and e-mail, this is not very convienent.
Any suggestions, or help is appreciated. thank you from
Garry
