General Support / Invite Friends Not Working

I was finally going to use my invite friends feature but when I click on that button I get a blank page.  Thanks for any help.

I have 3 forums w/ you all.  I just tried to update the profile on 2 of them.  I want to update my password & also my location.  On both forums it's telling me session failed & to log out & log back in & try again.  So I did & it's still telling me session failed.

Thanks for any help. :)

Even here I went to post this & it said session timed out while posting.  That also happens on my sites.  I wonder why?

There are 3 main sites for Cherokees & none of them have public discussion forums.

I spent quite a bit of time searching for Cherokee genealogy forums & after 10 pages of searching couldn't find any.  I found some genealogy sites with boards dedicated to Cherokees or Native Americans in general.  Not only do you have to join that genealogy site to get to the board...very few of their boards are organized into categories & boards like it can be with softwares like SMF.  Instead they're long pages with topics posted all willy-nilly you have to scroll through.

Otherwise I found some groups.  But here again you have to join the site...be it MySpace or Facebook or even Yahoo or Gmail...to get to the group. 

The best thing to have is forums...the best forums to have a stand-alone...the best stand-alone to have is one like this one - that can be organized into categories & boards.  So I built one for fellow Cherokees...whether they have a card or not. :)

I just started a 2nd board.  I'm just wondering why there's 2 portholes.  I tried to use Legacy again & I still can't change the width of the columns.  Also it don't offer as much as EzPortal.

EzPortal needs upgraded.  Also on the board news block there's "characters to show per entry" (O= unlimited).  I add 0 & get "an error has occurred!  A required parameter value was not entered for Number of characters to show per entry (0 = unlimited)".

There's still a problem with the cache so board posts are slow to appear but also it's causing problems with the avatars & portal.  At least I think?  I tried to change the avatars from 65x65 to 100x100, I deleted my other avatar & reuploaded it & the new one would not appear.  I tried this 2-3 times & it simply wouldn't work.  So I changed it back to 65x65, reuploaded it & left it.  Eventually it reappeared.  As far as the portal I wanted all the blocks to appear on the portal page only.  Yet when I saved them they'd pop right up.  I picked the right setting so when I edited them all I could do was re-save them.  This was all it took to fix them.  Then at some point I forgot to edit & re-save & moved on to something else.  After a couple of clicks they were fixed anyway.  So you don't have to waste your time to edit & re-save.

The gallery also needs upgraded.  Plus I'm still having a problem with it having 2 member galleries.  I want one gallery for all users to share & one the way it is...private member galleries.

I guess the webpage editor is for legacy because if you use ezportal it has it's own.  I guess if you got rid of Legacy you could get rid of the editor too.

I'd like to see the paid subscriptions or donations mod added.  Surely if we could get donations you would too.

Not sure what to do here.  I got another thread about bugs but now I've been moved so I think this is new.

I'd just set this up when I realized it had bugs & you were moving so I stopped.  Now that I've been moved I'm trying to finish up.

First thing I noticed is on the domain manager & domain parking page at the bottom it says:

On Ad Free & Upgrades it should be how do your subscriptions work.

Next I tried to add categories for my gallery & then when I tried to visit the category (to upload pics) I got:

I tried both of the portholes.  For ezblock I put all on the front page only yet some kept popping up occasionally.  I couldn't make a menu show up for nothing.  Also although I did enable links it told me I didn't & refused to display the latest.

The other porthole's simple enough but I tried to change the column widths & it wouldn't let me.

Also the gallery is saying it needs to be upgraded & it saved 2 galleries called member or user galleries when I installed it plus I was listed in both.  I tried to change one to shared galleries & was going to put a few albums in there everybody could upload pics to but it wouldn't let me.  It also wouldn't let me delete this duplicate.

Seems like these were all problems last time I was here.  Is this just buggy mods?

I have 3 forums w/ you all.  This one at smfforfree2 is the only one that don't have a wiki.  Will it ever or you just haven't gotten around to it yet?  Thanks for all this by the way.  :)

Don't let the name fool you.  You don't have to be sick &/or disabled to be looking for help.  Whatever your reasons...on this forum you'll find links to gov't/state help agencies & orgs.  You'll also find boards to discuss these agencies & orgs on in the hopes of improving them for the future.  If you need help or if you've had to go to some of these agencies & orgs yourself please join me.

Suggestions / SMF & Tinyportal

I've been a fan of SMF for a while now.  I had a couple of boards through you all (please delete http://horrorbusiness.ezsmf.com as I accidently deleted myself & now can't do anything with it).  But they were the other version of SMF...I like this SMF 1.1.1.  Seems like Tinyportal & more mods are made for this version.  Plus I like the overall look/layout better.

Would you all consider getting SMF 1.1.1. & Tinyportal?  I have such a site here: http://dawnswebdesigns.xenweb.net.  I've also got 18 mods (including Tinyportal).  Whatever portal you're currently using doesn't look near as cool as Tinyportal.  Tinyportal makes SMF look more like a CMS.  I love it.  :)

You are a very cool host.  Your server's rarely ever down.  I recommend you highly & have friends with you.  But I think you could do even better if you had SMF 1.1.1. & Tinyportal.  ;)

General Support / 2 Questions

1) I can't uninstall the links mod.  I've even deleted all the categories & blocked everyone's view.  And I'm using the default theme.  The board's here: http://dawnswebdesigns.ezsmf.com

2) I have permissions for a gallery but no gallery.  There's nothing about it on the admin panel.  There's no link to install it like there was for the links.  I understand if this is a paid feature.  But I don't understand why there's permissions to view/use it if there's no gallery.  ???

Otherwise I love SMF & thank you for hosting them free.  ;D
