Hi, I have not been able to access my forum all evening...the header loads then it just sits there with the little timer spinning..

other websites are doing fine, so I don't think it's my internet connection.

any help would be nice...thanks!

it's probably useless to complain but are we now having popup ads?? We cant' even post on my board without this ad popping up every post:

I have had to close this ad no fewer than twelve times in the last hour.

it is rendering my forum unuseable.

General Support / Members Coming down with viruses

Hi, I have had about half my members come down with viruses in the past three weeks. One of them is an IT professional with a major grocer and he says he got it from my site. Has anyone else had this problem or is it a coincidence so many are suddenly coming down? Could it be spreading from one member to another thru the forum pm system? they do not have contact with each other outside the forum.

General Support / Users Complaining They Can't Access Forum

can I get someone to check my site for me? I have a user in Missouri that says he is having trouble getting pages to download and a user in Australia who says the site takes a long time to load then throws her out. All of this since the move to a new server.

I know this is a vague description.. :buck2:

but I would appreciate it if someone could take a look?

I do have one main thread that is very long...could that be the problem? I have no trouble accessing it myself (I am in Texas if that matters at all)

I have a 'new member' that is listed as "Adminstrator" on my forum...have I been hacked or is this something new I missed?

they have posted an ad in a board that is off limits to all but my moderators

General Support / How does a member get a password reminder?

Hi, I have a member that is requesting a password reminder. How do I do that or will the software take care of it?

ok she is not at home, and can't get into her email from where she is. (the software says it sent the reminder to her home email. Any other way to get in? Or should I set her up with a temp acct?

General Support / pages loading slowly for some members?

I dont know that this is anything you can help with, but I have a member in Canada that is saying that pages are taking a very long time to load and he gets frustrated and leaves....he is the only one having this problem, I have members in Australia, Vermont, Wyoming, etc and none of them are havin this problem, I suspect problems somewhere along the route to Canada but can anyone suggest something that might help him?

Suggestions / Advertising Question

I know that SMF gets revenue from ad sales to cover the cost of running this lil operation.

There are a lot of forums that have sections closed to guests, which include the spiders that gather key words that decide what ads to show....

so is there a way that we as admins can inform SMF of our interests and/or maybe keywords that would potentially increase ad click thrus??

for example in my forum we are constantly getting ads for video games...and while we DO like Civ 4 and Simcity we are all older people and dont' much care for all of these new video games...we ARE interested in farm equiptment, books, horse products, gardening, and so on.....

might increase revenue if we could..

General Support / Moderator can't post

I have a moderator on my forum that can not post. He can send pms but the system won't let him post anything on the boards. I have two other mods with the same permissions, etc. that are not having any trouble. He is in Canada if that makes any difference and this has just started this week. Wed I believe was the first day he had a problem.
