General Support / Re: All SMF For Free forums failing to load

Oh whoops, didn't think to try with my VPN off. I can connect without issue now. I was connecting to a US location, but I'm guessing you block known VPN IPs as well.

Thanks!

Hey! I'm getting an error message when trying to access literally any SMF For Free forum:

"Contact support for help. CB"

Any news on when this will be fixed?

Suggestions / Prune Option
« on: July 27, 2010, 12:35:24 am »
I got the idea from a forum site I was visiting the other day.
It was getting spammed out of control where posts were adding up fast.
I figured it would take a while for one moderator to clean it all up, and I began to worry about what I would do if I found my forum trashed with posts.

In forum maintenance, there could be a Prune option that allows you to delete every post that meets a certain criteria based on these.

All posts made by a specific username
All posts made by a specific IP Address
All posts made in a specific date/date range
All posts in a board/section
All posts containing a specific phrase

And any combination of the above, such as All posts made by a specific username and a specific IP address, for posts made by a hacked account, so that posts by the original member wouldn't be deleted.

General Support / Post-Count Membergroup Glitch
« on: July 21, 2010, 07:42:50 pm »
Forum Url: sw33tpk.smfforfree.com
On my site, I have 4 membergroups set up that are based on post count.

New Member - 0 Posts
Member - 50 Posts
Senior Member - 200 Posts
Veteran - 1000 posts

Instead of becomming a New Member after registration, members are automatically made a Veteran, and do not become New Members until they made their first post.
Actually, after looking at the member list, it seems it is somewhat random.
Some members with 0 post count are in the correct group, while the remaining members are Veterans.

What's going on?

General Support / Spam Check and Post Group

There are two things I need to disable, but I'm having trouble finding out where to look.

First, how can I stop the forum from requiring a spam check when I post threads?
I'm not sure if this comes up when I reply to threads or not.

Not sure how to explain the second one, but I'll try my best. :P

When posting, no matter what group your in, it always shows your post group.
How can I make it so this only shows up if the member is in the "Regular Member" group?

Thanks for the help. :)

My friend used the .tk domain on one of his forums.
Setting my internet security setting to low kept me logged in.

However, this isn't recommended depending on some of the sites that you visit.
You would be better off just not using .tk

I can do an example.
If I'm breaking any rules, just let me know and I'll figure out where to stop.
www.xat.com/main << This is a chat group that uses Xat's web page editor which can add sites to their groups.

If you scroll down, you will eventually notice there are 4 black tabs that read "Wiki", "Community", "Comments", and "Rules".
By default, the "Wiki" tab should be open, which is a decent example.

The page you see in the tab is an actual site, which is embedded into the tab, which is on the chat group site.
What I'm attempting to do is to put my forum site there, which I'm assuming requires some sort of html or embeding code for the forums.
(Not adding it to that specific chat group, adding it to my own)

Their page editor uses html codes and embedding codes to add content to their web page tabs.
It basically works exactly like smfforfree's webpage editor works, so that can be used as a reference, if you are unfamaliar with Xat's webpage editing methods.

I'm not trying to add the chat to my forums, I'm trying to add the forums to the chat.
I've seen people do it on a few chat groups and I want to try it on mine.
Xat's web page editor works basically the same way Smfforfree's does, if that helps.
