Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.2, while your database is at version 1.1. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

the above message came up when we doing something  in admin.

also we're having lots of problems with our smilies.

we're on server 3.

thanks.

An amdendment to my post above....  we deleted the smf set, the url and everything.

replaced the original smilies with our custom set.  Still the same problem.

the custom set (ours, hosted on photobucket)  can all be seen clearly in the post reply box, it isn't until you click on them and use them that there is a problem.

rolleyes doesn't bring up the smilie allocated to that filename. it's brings up another one.

evil brings up a smilie, allocated to the cheesy file name

and so on...

i have checked an doubled checked the photobucket account.  all the smilies are named corectly.

and the url  is obviously  correct because we can see our custom smilies in the reply box on the forum, they can also been seen in the edit smilies tab in admin.

nothing we can do resolve this so relying on you guys.

thanks

i did it!  it was the url in the end that was the problem. all sorted now.

still only 22 smilies but better than we had before.

thanks again sybil  :) xx

You are welcome  :)
Yep.. alot of times its that url..   Im going to go back thru the Guide I wrote and see if I can explain it all abit easier..

EDIT:  I just edited the Guide a little bit.
Hopefully it will help those having problems

well an update to this sybil... yesterday when i replaced the smf smilies, we thought they had worked... they all showed up in the post reply box... however. when we came to click them..
some didn't work correctly... for instance... the cheesy one posted with the correct icon.
but when we clicked the evil icon... the cheesy icon came up again.

Even the smf set had the same problem.  when we tried that.

another things is i have noticed that in the default set and also the smf set, there are bits of code showing before certain smilies...  evil has this before it >  and roll eyes wouldn't work with my custom set and when you check the default set, before the icon this  :  shows.

looks like the default set is wrong to me and if the smf set is based on the default set and then when we replace the smf set with our own, problems crop up.

Like i said our custom set  will load fine and can all be seen in the post box, it's isn't until we actually come to click some of them that we get problems.

i have deleted both the smf url and our custom url from the forum now and we are back to using the original default set, which aren't pretty at all.... and even these have problems with them as i've explained earlier.

here's our forum address.

thanks sybil. :) I'll give it another go.  If it doesn't work this time then i give up.

The old method of being able to add our own smilies was better and more user friendly.

Incognito -  since you are on server3 I decided to try the smf smileys on my server 3 test forum.
as you noted - only 22 smileys in the dropdown box in Add Smileys

When I did the tutorial for it , it was using a forum on server2..   this is, at the moment,
not making sense to me as it is using the same base url and they should all be there no
matter the server you are on.     :-\

oh how strange. well at least you'll be able to let people know who sign up on server 3. i thought i was going mad, i searched and searched for the rest of the filenames and thought i must be doing something wrong.
thanks sybil x

could i also point out that some of the photobucket urls posted in this thread for help, well i clicked them and you can get straight into someones account. :(

Users choice..not everyone blocks their PB acct.    I do not with one that I have;   it has no personal photos nor anything I feel needs a door locked on.

and also when i replaced the default smilies with the smf smilie set, as we use here, i could only find 22 files names and not 32.... i then replaced those with our custom ones for the forum but red x's appeared.

If you follow this:  How to use the smileys you see here at support  very carefully you will find all of the 32 filenames.
There is a picture in the guide that shows all of the filenames/smileys available in that set.  After first installing them, making sure they work,  then going to the step to manually add all in that set check the graphic from the link above and be sure to find all of them.

Do that step FIRST and then test to see that you can see/use them before proceeding on to replacing them using:  How to replace smileys (SMF 1.1)

What url for your Photobucket sub album did you put in for "base url to all smiley sets"?
Did you name your new smiley set the same name as your sub album name?
Did you go to Current Theme and select your new smiley set as the default set?

If after going back thru each guide step by step to doublecheck it does not work for you please post screenshots from the Settings tab and the Smiley Sets tab.

Another question i have... say we have lots of members all posting smilies, aren't they using photobuckets server space? and will there be limits to that?

Monthly bandwidth for a free Photobucket account is 25gb.
I cannot say you would NEVER go over the limit, but I have an account with them that stores over 1800 smileys/images for mywebpage on it - where I allow people to use links from my PB space.. its never ever been even close.

Hi sybil, thanks for replying to this.
I carefully followed all steps. but i will try again. I'm a bit confused about the photobucket url.

Renamed  all my smilies to the filesnames as you said and then loaded them onto photobucket. I put them in a sub album and gave that sub album a name.  I left off the album name of the smilies when i imput the url on the forum ... but they didn't work.  I think i used the correct of the photobucket url.  I wasn't entirely sure where to find that in photobucket once i'd made up the album.

So maybe that's the problem?

hello... do you have pop up adverts on our forums?.. i thought not,  however, a couple of our members are complaining that they are getting pop ups when they visit the forum although they have their pop blockers set.

do you have any idea what might be causing this?

thanks

General Support / Arcade help needed
« on: February 22, 2007, 08:46:53 am »
We are deleting all our highscores and starting afresh.

We have deleted all the highscore for our member however, ex members scores are still showing in the arcade as member unknown and we have been unable to delete  their scores.

anyone got any ideas how we can get rid of them? It seems we have only been able to delete our registered members scores. We've tried disabling and enabling the arcade and also, uninstalled and re installed the pertinent games but the scores are still there.

thanks.   http://endoftheuniverse.smfforfree.com/
