General Support / Parking forum on established Yahoo hosted website

I just created a new forum that I would like to add to my website.  I tried simply installing SMF to the site but I'm not knowledgeable enough to figure out how to or if I can do it.  So, because I have another forum hosted here I thought I'd go with SMF for Free.  My problem now is that I would like to park the forum http://muscovyduckforum.smfforfree3.com on my website http://www.muscovyduckcentral.com and I don't have a clue how to do it.  Essentially I want users to be able to go to: http://www.muscovyduckcentral.com/forum/ to get to the SMF for free hosted forum.  Is it possible?  I really need to take some classes on this stuff.   ::)  Would really appreciate your help!!

General Support / Sending Email via board

I was curious as to whether Emails could be sent via the board as opposed to simply a PM.  I'm thinking along the lines of Emailing individuals who aren't yet participants/members.

TIA!

OK I will try that.  Thanks Sibyl.  Much appreciated.

General Support / Weird issues RE: disappearing 'reply' buttons & tabs...
« on: September 14, 2008, 07:54:22 pm »
Forum Url: http://countrylivin.smfforfree.com
A few of my members are complaining of disappearing acts on the forum, one of which is the reply button which will disappear for no apparent reason every once in awhile.  It resolves itself after a period of time, apparently, but occurs fairly regularly with the same user.  The other issue is disappearing tabs.  This has happened to me once or twice, but also happens to another user.  When this happened to me it was because the tabs were a very light blue and the text, being white, made it it nearly impossible to see.  The theme we're using is a light brown or tan, so there's no reason that I know of that would cause it.

Initially I thought the disappearing reply button was due to my having set the 'interval' wrong which prevents flooding the forum, but I don't think that is it after having looked into it.

Any thoughts?

I couldn't get it parked so there was the option of 'forwarding' it, not sure if it's cloaked or not.

I'm kinda  :idiot2: so I did what I could with what I had.   :-\

I have it forwarded to http://www.countrylivin.info

Could that be the cause?  I didn't think of that.

I'll let him know.

Thanks!

General Support / 'Server not found'

One of my members cannot access the forum, instead he gets a page with the 'server not found' error message.  He's the only one, although admittedly we don't have but a few members right now.  He's tried reload, refresh, tried it on both Internet Exploder and Firefox and still gets Server not found.  His latest message, from today, states: "Well I've tried off and on about 15-20 times today and Keep getting the Server not found, I cleared my cache, I've hit the reload button and refresh button and try again button to no avail.

I also did a ping test from the DOS Prompt and it came back not found also. No timeout or anything, just not found."

Anyone have ideas?

General Support / Hidden Membergroups

Hi all,

I tried searching for this topic but haven't seen anything that I feel answers my question so here I am.  On my forum I want to have a private ladies only section where us chick-folk can discuss topics that we don't want shared with the entire world.  I've set the forum up, I've also set up a ladies only membergroup which I believe has solved the issue with men possibly seeing the forum, my next question is can I make the ladies only membergroup 'hidden' or invisible so that those who are in this membergroup don't have the group listed under their ID in all their posts?

TIA

Cathy
