Suggestions / Re: Less Advertisements - suggests intext advertising

I actually think the opposite intext advertising is way more intrusive than a banner ad. Also it does not pay as much as banners.

I totally agree with this.

For some reason I don't think so. banners pays much more maybe, but not the intrusive part.
Intext advertising is not intrusive if its activated only on guests accounts but deactivated in members login.
Banners are a pain.
Maybe if would be a little bit less intrusive (banners) if placed on the left side of the page or right, as long as it's not that huge.

That would be too expensive mysmf.com generates less than $1 a day

I know that's a joke.
$1 a day for each member I guess.  ::)

The defaults are just a bit generic to the forums title ..

Here is what mine looks like..

Code: [Select]
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />
<meta name="description" content="Chinese Snuff Bottle Discussion Forum " />
<meta name="keywords" content="Chinese Snuff Bottle Discussion Forum " />

Would be kind of cool to add more to both the description, and keywords.. Although, my present forum is being indexed perfectly fine !

It would be super if you made a blog for SEO.  8)

Don't mean to be rude, but I've tried the competition using intext advertising. I kind of inclined to recommend the competition to friends.

Intext advertising could be showed only to guests. smf has thousands of users and way more reliable than the competition.
I don't think they need that much advertising on their free boards.

If really need to use banners, maybe 1 banner is enough and not that huge as to take over 1/8 of the page. It's kind of a turn off when compared to competition.

Just an honest opinion. No offense.

mysmf really needs a more prompt response to queries.

Just because it's free doesn't mean it shouldn't have admin support.

I suggest intext advertising.
Although mysmf is free. I shouldn't be too crowded with advertising.

I recommend intext advertising. That way the forum will look a little bit cleaner and more enticing for people.

I recommend a BLOG feature maybe added next to Home.
This is for people who loves to just write something or just to blog around.

Same problem here. It's a first time I've used smf, mysmf.com to be exact. Unlike the one I have in proPHPBB, a day later I could search my forum already on google. However here, until now I still can't see my forum. Even when I type or copy and paste the whole forum name itself.  :(
