General Support / Certain members cannot see certain boards.

Heya.

So currently we have a forum with a bunch of boards. Two of which are invisible to normal members. Although for some reason when I make a friend a mod/admin he still cannot see the board. What could be possibly causing this? How should I be setting permissions so only mods/admins can see certain boards regular users shouldn't?

General Support / Need DNS/Domain Reset

Hi there.

Recently A friend of mine went to change our domain name but now we can only access the site via the gig.smfforfree.com url but when we try to log in it attempts to log in/access other parts of the forum via the new domain which isn't working.

Could you please reset it so all the links point towards the old gig.smfforfree.com link? Thanks.

Fixed

Can you also do it for me please? I've created a thread in the same board.

General Support / Request Forum URL Reset
« on: August 02, 2010, 05:47:30 am »
I own the domain name shane3x.com and thought I had did all the things necessary to be able to unlink it from my smfforfree forum of shane3x.smfforefree.com

I guess I did it wrong. Going to shane3x.com just brings up a 'Google can't find it' message so I try logging into my admin account via shane3x.smfforfree.com but all the board links and the log in redirects to shane3x.com

I also left the board in maintenance mode. I was wondering if it was possible for you to reset all my links back to the free .smfforfree.com provided on first sign up so I can actually log in.

I've tried googling but it's kinda hard when you can't really give specifics. I'll provide an example of what the word is used for. Say a law is created and even though it didn't come into effect after an incident has happened they still can charge the people involved or whatever. I know there is a word(s) which pretty much means something done now can still be acted upon even though something has already happened.

If anyone knows the word or can help me out I'd really appreciate it.

Edit: Using a reverse dictionary I searched for the word 'past' and came up with the word I was after. In case you were wondering it was retroactive.

How about password protecting boards/categories, can we do that?

Hello.

I've tried playing around with this myself but I haven't been able to get it the way I wanted. I want to make a category (Which has one board under it) visible to everyone but if they click and try to visit the board under it then it will tell them they need X number of posts/Certain Rank to be able to continue.

All I can do is make the category and board invisible to people who do not have the minimum rank required.

Thanks in advance for help/links provided.

You'd have to change the image used for the logo section to just a plain black square. Then make your image black and put it in the logo image URL area.

I'll work up a step by step instruction for you when I get home from school ;)

That would be great.

Blade_Knight - hiya
You can make the background of that area black by changing the .catbg background to #000000, but in doing so it will make the background of many other areas on the forum black as well.   There isn't a way to change the background of only that specific area.

If you still want to do so, and intend on using the Default style as you are now, you'll need to create a NEW stylesheet.   This guide should help you with that part of it.   Admin CP Manage Styles Guide

After creating the new stylesheet you'll then modify it.  Look for this area in the css:

Code: [Select]
/* This is used for categories, page indexes, and several other areas in the forum.
.catbg and .catbg2 is for boardindex, while .catbg3 is for messageindex and display headers*/
.catbg , tr.catbg td , .catbg3 , tr.catbg3 td
{
   background: url(http://images.smfboards.com/Themes2/default/images/catbg.jpg) #88A6C0 repeat-x;
   color: #ffffff;
   padding-left: 10px;
   padding-right: 10px;
}
.catbg2 , tr.catbg2 td
{
   background: url(http://images.smfboards.com/Themes2/default/images/catbg2.jpg) #A1BFD9 repeat-x;
   color: #ffffff;
   padding-left: 10px;
   padding-right: 10px;
}

Find this in both places in the above code:
Code: [Select]
   background: url(http://images.smfboards.com/Themes2/default/images/catbg.jpg) #88A6C0 repeat-x;
Change it to this:

Code: [Select]
background: #000000;
Save the css, then refresh your browser to see the changes.

I'll give this a go in the mean time but thanks.

Hello.

I currently have this as my logo banner: http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/6286/currentou.png

Although what I really want to do is have something like this: http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/1199/wantn.png

I want to make that boxes background all black so that the image appears to scale depending on the users screen resolution. I want to avoid this: http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8793/avoid.png

Thanks in advance for any help given.

I've managed to change the IP for NS1 and NS2 to 96.31.86.149

So I just wait now right? Because my thing was previously parked.
