Crasy anyway we can fix it where people cant make a new topic in a read only section?

Use Permissions by Board.
ADmin > Permissions > Settings
Enable by Board Permissions
Then go to Permissions by Board
Change that board to Local
The boards name will change to a link
Click on the boards name.
You will be at the Permissions for THAT Board
Modify your membergroups so tthat they can not reply, make new topics, etc in that Board

Admin CP Permissions Section Guide

I am going to move this to the guides section of the forum. I originally posted this in General Discussion as a hope that it would get some attention, as well as encourage people to ask questions.

But now the influx has slowed down a little...but this still works as a good guide!

Good idea, it is sort of a guide to dealing with spam anyway, :D.

I set mine for Member Approval and they still get thru

Try other solutions.   There are many other solutions, not just editing the registration settings.  :-)

I'd like to find out more about what we can do with these people.  We can delete & ban but I'd really like to report people & get sites shut down.

Like for example I was using WordPress.  I have a contact me form but this form collects info like people's IP's.  I'm getting all kinds of spam...especially from hosts & people offering SEO services.

This one jerk's IP leads back to an ISP in India so I tried to report this spam to this company & got returned mail stating their mailbox is full or something like that.  If you can't report spam to an ISP...now what?  Who do you report this India based ISP to?  Any help would be much appreciated. :)
