A member had added a youtube to a topic today, and i would have only expected to see a link for it, not the actual screen and video. i would imaging that would make it very difficult for dail up members, and would likey cause the site to run very slow once a handful of those were posted.

my question is, how do i remove or disable the ability to have it be embedded like that? (it is acceptable to have a clickable link only. but not the actual video in the post.)

disable the flash ability in your admin cp.

Admin Cp-Features and Options-signature settings.

uncheck the flash on bbc codes.  That should take it out as an option in the reply box.

then go to Admin Cp-forum-Posts and Topics and uncheck embed flash into posts,

That should take care of the problem.

i did both of those and cant remove it from doing being embedded. :knuppel2:

ok it, should work, but then you are on server 4 and strange things happen there.  I am beginning to believe it has a portal to Area 51.  Remember as Admin, you are going to be able to do things the regular members can not.

i went in as admin, as a moderator, and as a regular member.... and this is still visible to every membergroup.

if we cant remove this capability... what will these do to my site? and who will it affect?

what you could do is maybe make a rule about only posting links instead of embedding them and maybe edit the post of the video and make it a link instead of the video

It's a quirk in Server 4 and has been reported to SMF.  Notice I did not say "bug"?  I don't care for them.

There is a mod that is installed on Server 4 that makes it so that those Youtuble links are posted as videos and not links.    There is no way to get around it.   There is another thread about this  (somewhere but I dont have time to search it out)   Im kinda busy around the homefront or woulda jumped in sooner to let ya know about this one.

I found that other thread.. as you can see I was confused by it to until asking SMF about it

I wouldnt think it would slow it down alot because it does not automatically play the videos.   You have to actually press the Play button on it to make them play.
