It is a necessary solution advertisers do not stand for any mature content if I ignore it the service will not surive last time that happened i ended up loosing a ton of income and not going to go that route again.

If you have ad free your board is not affected at all.

Ad free costs money. Money that I do not have. You said yourelf you lost a ton of income if you ignore their policy, but what about the money people like me lose? We are not rich, we can barely afford essentials. That is why we joined SMFFORFREE because we cannot afford a forum any other way.

It is a tradeoff but I don't have time or the resources to monitor every forum for bad content and advertisers keep the service alive.
I might start an exception policy in which you have to apply to lift the filters from your forum but that would be on a case by case basis.

Perhaps you should give Ad Free as part of the free forum without having to pay for it. Then this decision wouldn't matter anymore.

I couldn't do it I would have to switch to a paid only forum model in that case.

Well these advertisers are causing terrible problems. Many threads on my forums have been ruined due to this new censored words problem, and we can't afford to fix it. The advertisers are above you, and the people above them and the people above them are all working to drain us of money. Money, which isn't even real anyway. It's numbers and digits on a screen. That is the world we live in. People need to wake up  and stop letting the businesses and the people behind them ruin everything for us.I know it might seem over the top for just a censor on a forum, but that is only one part of a massive conspiracy problem we are dealing with. It's all about control.

Switch to having your groups hosted by ProBoards.

They don't employ compulsory word censorship that even bans the word “n a z i” (which is a legitimate word).
Lifted for smfforfree.com since I don't have that advertiser on there all other domains will still have censor in place.

proboards do indeed have the censor feature but only managers (that are anal anti-free speech "btiches") of their board can enact it.  SMF you should have went to see a movie again instead of taking away free speech!

It burns my a-ss that america the nation that is SUPPOSED to be the beackon of freedom are the biggest end holes on earth about taking that freedom away! BOW down and pucker up world the boss has spoken..pffff!!! :tickedoff:

I'm not offended by the tiny contribution that is required to become ad-free or whatever. I'm smarting a bit because there was no warning whatsoever and I feel very invaluable to SMF For Free as a result. I don't think it would have hurt you to have emailed or posted a notice and the fact that you didn't treat me like someone willing to make your enterprise more successful and compliant with your advertisers makes me not trust that you won't simply disrupt my board in future without notice and by no fault of my own. I realize -- this is the internets and completely inconsequential to real life, so I'm not taking it nearly as seriously as some, but I realize how inconsequential I am to your program through this interesting form of "notice."

Have a brilliant day, all!

I am not sure if the advertisers are at fault over the  censored  words..
Please  let  me  know  if  I  am  not  understanding  this  censored  issue.
but  it  seems  from  reading  the  posts  that  all  you  have  to  do  to  get
rid  of  the  censored  issue  is  to BUY  AD  FREE  CREDITS
If  this  is  true  than  its  called  trying  to  stay  alive  in  a  very  bad  economy.
If  you  guys  noticed  in  the  news  lately  BURKLINE  FUNITURE  went  out  of  business
in  morristown,tn,  they  have  been  in  business  since  the  1930s  with  over  1000
people  losing  jobs.  and  the  county  going  from  10.6 unimployment to 12.6.
Don't  believe  all  the  deceiving  good news that  you  watch  on  TV..

thanks SMF for being there for  my web site
and  we will  buy  ad free credits when the budget
permits.

I make more from ads that ad free. I would rather not have to censor since I don't want forums to leave but I have to in this case otherwise I would have to think about either closing or selling the service.

That has nothing to do with your customer service/communication skills or lack thereof. I understand the business end clearly. It's the lack of communication in the age of the internets that has me wondering. I'd just as soon you be successful. That's that part I don't get.

if  you    had  a  clue  as  to  what  it  takes  to   running  this  SMF  setup
you would not be complaining  about  not  being  contacted  about  this  censored  issue
SMF  deals  with  hundreds  of  web  sites, maybe  thousands.

Hey - I know I'm getting exactly what I pay for. LOL! As I said before, I understand the business end of things. But since I have to start paying, I will be looking to get the most bang out of my buck now. Which may mean I have to find a service that communicates with me about things so that my forum doesn't end up being a place I don't want to go. I'll say no more. :-X
