After deleting a link from webpage editor, its tab still shows on the bar above.  How to remove that tab?

I'm trying to put some text on top of my webpage editor on the format window or webpage body, but after typing the text when I click on 'edit' the text doesn't appear on the webpage.  Please inform what I'm missing out on.
