When my members try and upload a avatar from there own computer files it wont upload...
Thought it might be a permission thing but it doesn't work for me either....
Anyone any ideas what could be the problem or is it one for SMF...

cheers

 ;)

have you checked to see if you have enough space?

I know its working on server 1 as I did so myself yesterday to change mine on my server 1 forum.  I have noticed that it shows a red x right after you save it, but if you refresh your browser it then shows up.

Two things to check:

Admin > Attachments and Avatars > Avatars.

Membergroups allowed to upload an avatar to the server: Select permissions for each group

Second thing...  check to see that you do have the space for them to do so:

Admin > Attachments and Avatars > File Maintenance

Total Space Available in Attachment Directory:

Okay..  since you have space then check the permissions and if they are set properly find out the filesize of the avatars they are trying to upload.  IVe seen people try to upload redicuosly sized avatars.

Just went to my own forum on 1 and tried it to see if there is some server issue going on.
Nope.. it worked, let me do it.

It DID show a red X when I saved the page but the moment I refreshed my browser (IE7) the avatar was there.

then it has to be some funky issue with your browser since you CAN upload them with fox
tried clearing IE's cache?
