Spam guard
« on: November 12, 2008, 12:47:35 pm »
Forum Url: http://gemstone.smfforfree4.com/.smfforfree4.com
I don't know why it has suddenly showed up, but getting a spam guard window that requires filling in the letters that show next to it before can post.

It was never there before.  ???

Any hoo..... How can I remove that? I looked through the forums admin but did not see anything.

Thanks

No feature yet to remove it.

Was aded to prevent spam.
Search for keywords and if there is more than 5 of them it will prompt you for that.
Or if there are more than five links.

That is so strange that I have never seen it before. I sure would have thought had posted several posts with five or more links and certainly more than five key words.....

Really strange.   ???

Oh well........ Thank you

can someone figure out a way to make this go away?

I personally think that "SPAM IS GOOD"

Please read this thread:
http://www.smfsupport.com/support/general_discussion/dealing_with_spam-t22412.0.html

You do not need, and we do not need, the type of spam we are talking about.    This is not about kids posting a ton of silly posts.. its about spambots and a new wave of attacks that ARE hitting a lot of smf forums.
The feature was installed to help stop it IF they do get on your forum.  There are steps YOU can take to help stop it on your forum by not allowing them on to begin with.
The steps are mentioned in the above thread.

I believe it's on sale at your local super market.  Maybe you can go stock up on some?  :2funny:
