SMF For Free Support Forum

i was wondering how you add custom smilies to the forum like are on here? I have tried adding them to my forum but can only use ones that are already there. Even tried enabling the customised smilies and trying to add them from there but that didnt work so i cant work out how to do it.

its probably really obvious lol so if anyone could tell me how to do it i'd appreciate it

if i had upload new smilies id have known how to do it but i dont for some reason 

my admin cp also looks completely different from that, i dont have forum configuration or any of that stuff 

the larger screenshot you posted looks like it is from the old software. According to your smaller screenshot your running the new software so your not gonna see the category "Forum Configuration". On the new software its now broken down into two seperare categories (like you now see). The guide Sibyl Gave you pertains to the software you are currently using so if you follow it step by step it will work.

On the "Add Smiley" page you have in your screenshot, you cant add smileys there. You need to go back to the guide and go back through each step.

ok i did the guide and got my smilies changed to the ones that are used on here but can i add my own custom ones that are not here? or can you only use those ones?

i wanted to use ones that i have on my computer that i saved from the old forum but cant upload them ?

if you have smileys of you own you want to use on your forum, you cannot just simply upload them to your forum you will have to upload them all to a SUB folder on photobucket, rename them and then link your forum to that folder they are in. Follow this guide and it will show you how to change them:
