So incredibly sad about this whole thing. It is SO much worse than it used to be last fall when anyone could have four million smileys and everyone was on the same server. That does not make any sense to me. At all.

I (and I know I speak for Foxx as she is my partner in our forum) do not want to move to server 2! If server 2 had some options that were to our aesthetic liking (i.e. smileys that don't suck and a background that doesn't blind you) then perhaps we would consider it. Maybe it would be a BETTER idea if SMF fixed server 1 so it worked more than 30% of the time.

Sorry, but this is getting really frustrating. I love SMF and that it is free and such a plus...but can't keep going thru this day after day. Didn't have this problem as often prior to the upgrade. Too sad.

Excellent question. It is very clear that upgrading is not the solution to the problem.

Totally agree with this - things are just getting worse. I'm seeing these issues with my forum daily now. I just had a huge post wiped out by the Connection Problems message, and it's happening to my members as well. Just endlessly frustrating...

Quoted for truth. If the only solution is getting a new forum on server 2, I'd rather just find a different service altogether.

Sassy.. its not as simple as "moving to server 2"

When you are upgraded you are still at smfforfree.com Just as your forum is now. I cannot get to YOUR forum as it is slow and a white screen now.

The only ones on smfforfree2.com are those new forums and Im not about to start from scratch with my forum.

If I upgrade... Ill still have a smfforfree.com address, just as you do.. and it will stilll be slow and still have the problems (as you can see today and alot of late)

forums appear to be up and running correctly again.

I would like to know however, if we upgrade can we be put on server 2 since it does not appear to have the problems server 1 has? this is a question only SMF can answer.

Her comment...and mine...were simply an outcome of massive frustration. Our members are constantly complaining about the WSOD and down time...and besides complaining to each other...there is nothing we can do about it. That is extraordinarily frustrating to both of us...

I'm sorry, but I'm not one to just sit back and not say anything. (You can ask Foxx...Of course, she ain't one to mince words, either!) If I've got problem with something, you can bet your last dollar that I will tell you EXACTLY how I feel. SMF is making money off of my forum. I feel I should at least be treated with a modicum of respect and not like a red headed step child. If SMF finds my posts offensive, that's fine and dandy.. I find the way I'm treated offensive. And believe me.. I am a LOT kinder to them than my members would be.

as a moderator just please understand I have to (try) to keep things from turning nasty
no matter my feelings on the matter.
