Problem Accessing Site

here is my problem accessing site... http://wilds.smfforfree.com/index.php .....

i have internet explorer, as does my husband (2 computers here at home).....we can open any site, and we have quite a few, but ONLY the above forum will not open for us.....it started when we logged on this morning....everything works but that (hotmail, msn, other IE sites).....we tried deleting the site, then typing in the URL to re-add, and we get the same message "This page cannot be displayed".....our computers are defragged once a week, etc........any help??

Just tried it and its loading fine  on my end.  Are you still having trouble accessing it?   If so try clearing your browser cache, cookies and see if that helps.

Hi Sibyl..
The forum they are referring to is mine .. I tried to help them .. and they have deleted cookies .. temp files and history .. and that makes no difference .. everyone else can get in but them .. they each have their own computer .. and they can access all the other sites they have on their puters .. but when they go to my url .. it says "this page cannot be displayed" ..  He is my asst admin and she is one of my globals .. Do you have any other suggestions that might help?

Also.. I hate to do unless al else fails ..BUT if I delete their accounts and they register again .. will that help?? I would only do that as last resort as it would bring them back to newbies .. so if there is anything else that you could think of I would deeply appreciate it .. Thanx !

Have them try to ping smfforfree.com
And run
tracert smfforfree.com

At the command prompt and post back the results

okay, i went to run and typed in "tracert smfforfree.com".....the black box came up and started filling up with lots of numbers and symbols, very fast, and before i could copy anything, the black box would suddenly disappear......tried it several times......any suggestions?

First goto to run type "cmd" without quotes
Then type the commands above and the output should then stay on the screen

OK .. they did that .. and got this message

unable to resolve target system name smfforfree.com

I tried a trace route on my puter and it worked .. but on their putter does not

Can they get to other websites wasn't sure with this "everything works but that (hotmail, msn, other IE sites)"

Looks like a DNS. If they still can't get I can give a manual way but not recommend.

Yes they can get on any other site .. yahoo ..msn ..mail and messenger the only site they cannot access is mine ..I even had them go to google and click on the url there .. same thing .."this page cannot be displayed".. and myself and all the other members have no probs ..  this is a husband and wife team .. and they have seperate puters but same server .. and they can't get in under either computer .. Why just my site I wonder .. and they can go any other place on the net ??

Last restort if they can't flush the dns

Edit the following with a text editor
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Add a line to the end of the file with the following

DNS is basically protocal that helps determines where sites are located. In this case, the DNS is not finding/resolving smfforfree.com .

The problem is now solved and they are up and running ..
