SMF for Free,

I just re-read the Terms of Use policy.  I am violating the own ads terms.  Is there a method of donation that would allow me to keep my own ads.  Please contact me before taking any deletion actions.

Thanks,

Jay

No there isn't.     Can not place your own ads on your forum,  no exceptions.

Jay are those links just affliates links - in other words are they there only for people to go to those sites.

Or,  do you make money from them visiting them/purchasing items from them.

Just need to be clear on that as it makes a difference :)

Those are just affiliates links.  I don't make money off of visiting the sites.  I make money off of people buying stuff from those sites.

No problem Jay.  Im thinking it is probably okay since it isnt a income-by-click on link thing.
Ive sent it on for SMF to see as Ild like clarification on his rule myself.   (I wont guess)

I'm new to this site and only created the forum a couple of days ago.  I would like to purchase upgrades eventually, especially storage space.  I hope the site proves successful.

Its easy to run and you'll find a lot of support here when you need it.   A lot of people spend time trying to be of help.   Check out the links in my sig - they are useful  :)     You've found the "purchase ad free credits" link in your Admin Panel already right?   You can use that for when you are ready to pay for Ad Free.

I'm the type of person that will try to enterprise anything.  Your Ads on the forum seem completely unobtrusive.  I don't see any reason to get rid of them.  I think you could probably put your heads together and add some additional upgrades that you could profit off of.  I'm more interested in the 100 Mb space upgrade if things kick off.

That is SMFs baby...  we Mods are here to Moderate the forum and don't get into that area  :)

The space upgrade is listed under that same link (you may have already discovered that)

Im afraid I have to run Jay.   Smf is usually on in the evenings so you may not hear back on your question until later on.... take care

I've added some ads to my website under a topic of Support in the battleground forums. I do not buy anything from there. I do not get paid from them. BUT! to make sure we are all clear on this. I have a image of them (cannot be clicked!) just so people can see how helpful they are and what I have on my forums because of them :) I dont think this violates the terms of service, right? cannot click images,do not get paid from them, and they are under a topic not on the board.

I'd venture to say you are ok.  I'm concerned with my forum because I posted ads in the Header section that link to products I sell in my own business.  If I can't do this on these forums, then I'll have to look elsewhere.  I'd also have to figure out an easy way to transfer my content.  It's a recipe forum and there's a lot of recipes.
