moving a poll
« on: March 14, 2007, 07:13:41 pm »
Is there a way to cut and paste an existing poll/survey to a new topic without losing the data?

I have a poll which I'd like all members to take.  Some have and some have not so I'm trying to figure out how to send a message to all members reminding those who have not taken the poll to do so.  I know that a new topic can be announced to all members but it would walk better if I transferred the existing poll to the new topic so that those who want to take the poll have it attached to the new "reminder" topic.

Thanks.

Jack

I dont think there is..  why not do the announcement as I suggested in the other thread and tell them you would like them to take the poll?

thanks - that's what I just did.

second question - can sticky subjects be rearranged?  I'd like my Poll subject always at the top but it appears to move down as I add another sticky subject.

Only thing I can think of is to unsticky it, then sticky it again.
Would like to see a way to rearrange them myself

You would have to talk to Simple Machines to do that, sibyl. Not even forums hosted on your own server can do that.

Nope,
If you're the admin, you can delete the poll. Then move the topic then add a new poll with the same records.

"new poll with the same records"  not sure what this means - can I carry over the data from the old poll into the new poll? and if so, how is that done?

You'd have to refer the topics over...I have no idea what Simply The Best is talking about heh
