Moving a board to another board
« on: September 12, 2006, 01:12:43 pm »
Ok, I have decided my forum is too long, meaning ppl have to scroll down alot to see all my message boards, so I was thinking I could take a board and put it into another board.  I have tried all ways I could think of but it doesnt seem to work.

For example this is what I would like to do:

I have an entertainment forum section which has boards about tv, movies, music etc....and I have another seperate forum board that has just adult stuff on it, I wish to move my adult section under the entertainment forum, I hope this makes sense, lol...so without deleting a forum board and start it all over again, I was wondering if there was some way to just move the whole section into another section.

Thanks so much in advance for anyones help
 :)

well . First there's the boards click modify (one of them that's next to the board) Then At the top there should be a way to scroll down at the top to choose the right category? Make Sense?

P.S I'm Doing This By Memory So It might not make sense

I believe there is a way to do it. Move everything...I've seen it once. Imma go find it now.

If I'm wrong you can move several topics at once to make it easier from one board to another.
Quote from: My General FAQ
How do I move more than one topic at once?
Answer from SMF For Free

"Under current theme settings.
Goto reset all member options
Find
Show quick-moderation on message index
Change it to checkboxes"
It's easy from there. You'll have checkboxes instead. Check the moveable topics and at the bottom in the two dropdown menu's choose "Move topic to:" and the board you want to move everything to.
Repeat that several times for every page.

Ok, I dont think I explained myself very clear, lol, sorry.....I dont want to just move topics, I want to move a whole forum board to another one.  You know how when you first log into your site, you see all the boards in which you can post in right?  I want to move a whole one of those right into another one, does that make better sense?  sorry for any confusion

I think that Wouldn't be the best idea at this time because there's only 3 message boards

Admin - Manage Boards - modify one of the boards. Scroll Down to find the Entertaiment Category (this bits at the top) And Submit. Do it with all message Boards

Ok, but that just changes the order in which you see all your boards, I dont wish to switch the order, I just want to move a whole one into another one.  And what do you mean there is only 3??   3 what??

You want to merge another with one right?
Well just move all the topics into the other. Like I said...

I don't understand what's wrong with that *confused*

I'm still looking for that shortcut..ugg

Edit: You mean make it a child board of another?!?

Right littlekidder, like I said that just changes the order in which you see the boards, I dont wish to change the order, I want to actually move a whole forum into another completley different forum board, and the 3 categories was just an example, lol
