Messed up something bad...
« on: February 12, 2008, 10:48:06 pm »
Forum Url: http://d4rkpkscape.smfforfree4.com
Recently I was looking around my forums and saw this one place in admin where it says "domain manager" I was wondering what it was and what it did. So I went and typed in "d4rkpkscape.net" to see if it would like change it. Well, I don't really know what it did, but whenever I try to go somewhere on my forums it redirects me to the aol search page, and says the address returned no results. can anyone please help me with this? If it helps any, the address is d4rkpkscape.smfforfree4.com

You can only use the Domain Manager if you own a domain.

Have you gone back into Domain Manager and clicked on Reset Default Forum Url to orginal
at the bottom of the page?

I had no clue what I was doing. And when I do that it just takes me to that same aol search page. I guess that is what I get for messing with things I don't know about... :/

Fixed. Only works with domains that you own and control and you need to follow all the steps.

OK I just tried messing up a test site and then fixing it.
Go to:
Quote
http://YOUR_FORUM.smfforfree4.com/index.php?action=adminpg;sa=changeurl;domain=default
Replace YOUR_FORUM with your correct forum URL. Example: If it is 9861.smfforfree4.com, you'd go to:
Quote
http://9861.smfforfree4.com/index.php?action=adminpg;sa=changeurl;domain=default

Try that. Not sure how well it will work, but I don't suppose there is anything to lose.

Edit: It seems to work after it is done 2 or 3 times.... hmmm...

I don't understand what you are asking for.  I can get to your forum just fine.  Could you explain a little better please?

LL...you can get to the forum, but if you click one of the boards on there, it re-directs you to the SMF signup page.

Fixed. Please only use the domain manager if you actually own a domain. You put smfforfree.com as the domain and of course that did not work.
