Membergroup list and staff list questions
« on: October 13, 2008, 09:38:07 am »
OK I am trying to do two things that I can't figure out on my forums.

First, I have given custom colors to the membergroups on my forum.  Now, what I would like to do is have a "key" to those colors at the bottom near where the "Who's online" section is.  I have seen this on another forum I frequent and would like to have it here so that people can see what name color means what rank.

Second, I would like the staff list on our forum to only list administrators and global moderators.  But right now the individual board moderators are listed as well as another membergroup.  I want to remove them from the staff list since they aren't site staff.

Thank you for you help.

Our forums are at http://wiiunite.smfforfree3.com

Check the Codes Index for Member Legends.   Link for the Codes index is:  Codes Index

The Staff List
Go to Admin > Features and Options > Layout and Options
All the way to the bottom you will see this:
SMF Staff - Filter groups on staff page.
(seperate each group name by a comma.)

ok, thanks for the code index, I will check it out.

However, for the staff list, I tried every combination of membergroup names in that box and none of them affected what appeared in the staff list page at all.  It didn't matter if I just put administator in there or if I put any other group, the staff list still had the same 4 membergroups listed.

Only thing I can think of is to check spelling for the membergroups you put there and it may be case sensitive  (im not positive about that)   check spacing tween each one too.   No spaces tween them.

for instance do:
Moderator,Global Moderator,etc,etc

ok I got rid of one of the groups that didn't belong in the staff list and spacing was my mistake.  However, I can't seem to get rid of the "local moderators" who moderate an individual board.  I never made a membergroup for them so it should still be the default name.  But no matter what I put in there they are still in the staff list.

I dunno how to get them off that list. Ive tried  "Local Moderators" and they are still on it.
Only thing I can suggest is make a new Membergroup for your Board Moderators.  Set their access as you want it.   Move them to that Membergroup.     Then filter that group from the list.
