Member not being able to access smfforfree
« on: April 30, 2007, 05:29:27 pm »
Forum Url: http://badgeaddictstourneys.smfforfree.com
A member has told me that her friend tried to access any smfforfree forum and always gets a white page so she can't register at my forum or the other badge addicts forum.

She has cleared her cookies, temp files, etc...and still gets the white page even when she tries to refresh.

Ever heard of that?

Check the URL...
Your URL isn't right in that post ;) You've been giving her the right URL right?

Hehe, I've got it for you ;)

But otherwise, I'm totally stumped. Does she have other browsers on her computer? Ask her to maybe try out another browser.

Hmmm, odd.  I tried it and was able to see it right away.  One hint for you tho, you need to have one guest board showing as part of the TOS.  ;)

We are having her friend send me a screen shot of her privacy settings...wondering if maybe its not allowing it for some reason.

it could possibly be that she needs to adjust her cookie settings to medium or low.

for IE..

Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab

Move scroll bar down to "medium" or "medium low". See if that works.

Cookie settings wouldn't be the problem. Cookies only tell the forum if the person is logged in or not and a small bit of other information. It should still load without a cookie.

Yeah well it was originally set up with Rookie's membergroup needing no posts...and when I add Guests (cos I actually set up guest board for them) with no posts...it moves all Rookies to Guests...lol.  Then when I log out to see it still doesn't show the guest board...dangit...lol.

Just make a new board, and set the membership group for guests only to view.  You dont have to make a new membergroup, you will have the guests option to click on.
