SMF For Free Support Forum

Do me a favor and go into modify post.  Check to see if you have [flash=200,200]A URL[/glow][/flash]in your post.  If you do just remove the [flash] sections that are in the brackets like this [ ].  That should leave you with just a link. 

It's possible that a code was imbedded in that post on your other forum.

If you post only the url without the flash tags it shouldnt do that.
Only other thing I can think of to do is go into Admin and disable flash
Admin > Posts and Topics > take the checkmark out of "embed flash into posts"

no one ever used this kind of thing on the old board.

This gets stranger.
I just tried posting only that link in a post on my own server 4 test site.
When I try to save the post it tells me the message body is left empty.

You are positive you posted that link and not tags of any kind with it?   It wont even let me do that.

i never added tags, i just copy pasted adresses and posted them on my board.  and when i moved i clicked on 'modify', copied links and posted them on the new forum. as i said before, we never put embedded stuff anywhere on the old forum.

I've just tried removing a link which came from the old board and putting a fresh link... it didn't change a thing.

julita -   I'm gonna refer this to SMF because unless Im missing something  (and I could be)  the settings for server 4 may be different and that may be why this is happening.  

If I use only your video link on my server 1 site it posts only the link.
If I use only your video link on my server 4 site (along with some text so it will post it)  it posts the video itself.

My settings are the same on both forums  (I double checked - automatic linking is on, flash is enabled)

LL look under Bulletin Board Code in Posts and Topics.. you will find it there (on all the servers)

I would not think that should cause the video to show.
He "may" have a mod installed or somethng we are not aware of on 4.

'Automatically link posted URLs'   should only make it so that you and your members can post links without having to use the [ url ] tags.     It should not make the video automatically show up in a post.     It should put only the link TO the video there and make it so you can click on it.     That is exactly how it works on my server 1 forum  (I just checked 2 and 3 and have the same results)    On server 4 however it is embedding the video.   Ive sent a note to SMF asking him about this.   Will see what he says.
