Need help with a shoutbox!!! plz read

i need a  shoutbox. I have downloaded many shoutboxes but do not know how to put it on the board index. I have read the u have to change codes on the 'index.template.php' file. the problem is... I DO NOT KNOW WHERE THAT ISSS... plz reply to help!!

Shoutboxes can be added through the ezPortal or by placeing the generated code from a shout/chatbox website into the headers or footers, board description, or news.

You can use the shoutbox that comes with EzPortal or use one of many you can find online -  you can not however use ones like you find at simplemachines mod site/ones you have to download

ohhh but how do i put it on the board index. I have a xat.com chatbox but the only way i could put it on there is as a board. I dont want it to e a board, just want it on the board index and u can post in that board.

If you are using an xat chatbox it should give you an HTML code for that, you can use an EzPortal HTML block for that.

You could also just put the HTML code in the description for any of your boards.

ok i used that guide of urs Andrew, THANKS. But on more question, how do i change the size of the shoutbox. I didnt use any websites for the shoutbox. I just picked the category Shoutbox with the guide Andrew had. i want the height of the shoutbox to be more.

There is no way to change the size of the EzPortal Shoutbox.

You can either put it as an ezBlock on your homepage (but I suggest you make it invisible all other pages if you decide to do this) or you can make a board for it and just paste the code into the description. Then it will be viewable on the forum mainpage (I suggest you make it nearer the bottom). You can see an example at my forum, http://footyboards.smfforfree3.com
It is at the bottom of the forum mainpage and also as an ezBlock on my homepage.
