HTML/Embed Code?
« on: October 27, 2009, 04:49:11 pm »
Forum Url: http://www.ssreborn.smfforfree3.com/
Can anyone tell me how I can find an embedding code, or its equivilent, for an smfforfree forum site?
I'm trying to add the forum site to a xat chat group as a webpage.
Thanks. :)

In order to insert any Xat widgets to your forums you need to do the following

1. Go to http://www.xat.com
2. I assume you want the chat, so Click Here to create the chat box layout.
3. Go to your Forums>Admin CP>Webpage Editor>Create new webpage>Click the little "HTML" Button on the RTE, and when it opens, go back to the xat screen, after you have created your chat, and copy the widget code, and go back to your editor, and paste it..

I'm not trying to add the chat to my forums, I'm trying to add the forums to the chat.
I've seen people do it on a few chat groups and I want to try it on mine.
Xat's web page editor works basically the same way Smfforfree's does, if that helps.

Do you just want to add the link to your chat? I'm not sure how you want this done..

Can you find an example for us?

I can do an example.
If I'm breaking any rules, just let me know and I'll figure out where to stop.
www.xat.com/main << This is a chat group that uses Xat's web page editor which can add sites to their groups.

If you scroll down, you will eventually notice there are 4 black tabs that read "Wiki", "Community", "Comments", and "Rules".
By default, the "Wiki" tab should be open, which is a decent example.

The page you see in the tab is an actual site, which is embedded into the tab, which is on the chat group site.
What I'm attempting to do is to put my forum site there, which I'm assuming requires some sort of html or embeding code for the forums.
(Not adding it to that specific chat group, adding it to my own)

Their page editor uses html codes and embedding codes to add content to their web page tabs.
It basically works exactly like smfforfree's webpage editor works, so that can be used as a reference, if you are unfamaliar with Xat's webpage editing methods.

No it wouldn't work with SMF For Free.

The best you could do is link back to your forum.
