Can someone please explain to me letter by letter how I can add a Terms Of Service to my site, when anyone browses or clicks on my URL.

[EXAMPLE] - Like suppose I go to, www.SMF.com and the first thing that comes should be the terms of service.
Example for this can be found here, as you see when ever you visit that site, the first thing that will come will be the ToS, I want to know how can I do this.

Please reply with a quick detailed answer!
Thank you for your time, and for reading this!

If you noticed that their main site is a .com while their forums is hosted on SMF. The TOS for anysite requires PHP, a programming language that makes up SMF and is very popular.

akl in order to do that you would need to find your own webspace.   You would create a page there that would have a link on it that leads to your forum.     That is all they did do do that for that site.

Kalphite thank you for trying to help but it doesnt require PHP for a webpage to post a TOS on it.    That page you go to on that site is simple HTML with links at the bottom of it that direct you to the forum once you click on them.

Yes it usually corresponds with cookies but PHP to detect cookies and than redirect...

Here is an example(it will place a cookie in your browser if you hit yes):

Kalphite: Javascript can detect, write and react to cookies just fine without PHP. Regardless of that the use of a second "inner" index page on that forum linked to by our member does not use cookies to react to the earlier TOS, therefore a dynamic scripting language is not required and especially not a service side scripting language.

Please stop confusing members with posts. Your inaccuracies are starting to become annoying.

akl, you could maybe use a block of your portal? You don't actually have to have them click a button to have them agree to the TOS. You could set up a block basically saying

"Terms of Service for 8thgrade.smfforfree4.com
By browsing beyond this page and posting on http://8thgrade.smfforfree4.com you agree to the following Terms of Service. If you do not agree with the Terms of Service or you are not able to agree to them alone you must discontinue browsing this page and any other pages on http://8thgrade.smfforfree4.com.
Blahblah terms of service go here"

akl  Although this is not exactly what you are wanting to do I have one other thought for you.

You CAN edit the registration page.   The one they see when they register.
Admin > Registration > Registration Agreement

You can put what you want for rules/TOS on that page.
When they register they do have to checkmark the I Agree box.

Then also post your rules/TOS in a board on your forum.
