if its Hotmail our host has already mentioned how much Hotmail sucks.   
My husband emails many people and the past few days anyone he has tried to send mail to hotmail to its come back as unsendable.   Appears they are having problems again.

yes its hotmail, so that would explain alot if there is a problem with the automated emails being sent out

seems worse now , tried it today and it doesnt even recognse my original email address, let alone send any out.
I wonder if SMF can rest my original username and password for me or upgrade another senior member on forum with admin rights, members are karinna or Becki, ty

Yeah I might just do that for now.

I found the error in my mail logs
"soft failed sender ID check. Please ensure this IP is authorized to send mail"
That would require some updates to the DNS which would take about 48 hours to take affect.
