Help with the banner/header. Want to make it transparent?

Ok.. so basically take a look at this screenshot:

I want to make the area that has eXplicit Kills in transparent or empty so I can make a banner than can be any height.. with the fixed forum width and fit in perfectly.

If I make a banner now and put it in there, it always makes the black gradient looking thing stretch and it never fits in perfectly, it leaves gaps on the sides, top and bottom area.

Because everyone uses different screen sizes, there is no "fixed forum width" unless you did so via the CSS.

If you did that could you please provide those numbers?

You can make an image that is a single black pixel and put that image in the Logo area... And then put your banner in your headers.

Did I answer your question?

you could set the forum to a specific width via the css
Then put your banner image in the center of a transparent image that is approximately the width you set in the css - make it a few pixels narrower.   That would do it.

Ok I get what you mean.. but that's what I already have. I mean a full banner, umm look at this: http://youraudiofix.com/

I want a banner with a full background, no PNG images. And I want it to fit in the box perfectly, last time I added a banner it made the black gradient thing on there stretch and it wouldn't fit into the box perfectly, it left gaps all around even though the image was the exact size of the border thing

Here's the deal.   There are not settings in the css for only that specific area.   The class for that area is "catbg"   The padding is set to 10px left, and right.   It needs to be that way or the text in other areas of the forum that use catbg as the class would be crammed up against the left edge of the headers.   That would not look good at all.     So, what I am saying, is that you can not do anything to change that area without it effecting many other areas of your forum.

If you do it as I mentioned, and put the image in the center of a transparent image -  your image will then be centered.   SO LONG as you make that entire image (transparency and all) just a few pixels narrower then the set width of your forum.      Its that or put your banner in your header and center it there.

I was asking for a full JPEG banner, so I could put a decent background on there. There's already a transparent image on there. Forget it

Only thing I can tell you then is what I mentioned earlier -  because of the padding for the catbg areas its always gonna set the image 10 pixels to the right of the left border, etc.  You can't fill the area entirely, but you can change the catbg's to a different image that may work better with your banner image, or  modify your banner image to get it to fit in as best it can.

Only other idea I have is you could create another section at the top, identical to the one where the logo image is, but using your banner as the background image.  If you want to give that a try toss me a pm monday and Ill help you with it.  All Ill need is the url for your banner image, I can grab your css.
