Ok...I will be the one to ask a stupid question....in the forum we can already add sig's and advatar's...so what is the gallery for exactly?

Cool pictures that can be shared with anyone.

Anything you want!
Maybe sharing wallpapers, pictures of your pets etc.

Other pics that you or your members may want to post.  There is only so much room on your profile to add pics.  EX: someone went away on a holiday and has pics to share, they can do so via the gallery  :)
