Domain Nameservers
« on: April 29, 2012, 05:17:59 pm »
Forum Url: www.cieducation.info
Quick Question as it has been quite some time since I dealt with this.

With the recent server upgrade and the need to update custom domain nameservers. Do I go into the Domain Manager (I use Godaddy) and change nameservers 1 and 2 from  NS1.CIEDUCATION.INFO and NS2.CIEDUCATION.INFO to 199.119.103.78 ?

You need to go into the domain manager of GoDaddy.
Then find the domain and modify the hosts records for the domain and change the ip address of ns1.yourdomainname.com and ns2.yorudomainname.com to the new ip address.

Can I use the same address for both nameservers because I am getting an error message for duplicate address when I try to replace ns1 and ns2 to the same address you gave. Or should I be using the forward option in nameservers section??

I think the godaddy site might be a bit different than when you link was posted.  Here are the steps I followed.

Step 1: Login to Godaddy
Step 2: Click My Account
Step 3: Under Domains Click Launch
Step 4: Click the Domain Name
Step 5: Click the Stack of Coins called Nameservers
Step 6: Click Set Nameservers
Step 7: Click on the I want to Park Domains Options, wait, then click ok.
Step 8: Scroll Down the Screen under DNS Manager and Click Launch
Step 9: Under the A (Host) Option click the Ip address where it says points to and make the change to the new ip address you gave
Step 10: Click Save
Step 11: Wait 24-48 Hours for the saved changes to take effect

Hope this helps someone else with my issue

Kris
