Default changed for anyone?
« on: January 02, 2009, 07:26:42 pm »
Forum Url: http://funcentral.smfforfree2.com
I was on my forum working on some new webpages when I noticed that the "Default" style on SMF had changed. If you do not believe me or need to see what it was like, just CLICK HERE to see what the problem is. There is something weird with the top part (where the tabs are), and I think that the font was also changed to something else. Please help me!!

Also, for some reason, the smilies on my forum have become a bit blurry for some reason. I have saved all the smilies to my own computer, made the photobucket album, so they are not on someone else's bandwidth. How do I fix this?

I was wondering if this was some sort of a new change to the forum (smfforfree2) that SMF For Free made.

And for those who think that this a "made up problem" it is not, I am actually having a problem here that needs to be solved. No more critics.

ok. see the font all over the place? it is a different type than this forum and other forums "default" style (the one you cannot edit). and also, on the top, where the tabs are (the ones that say main, forum, arcade, login, register) The image changed so it looks odd...

please tell me how to fix this.

you know what? this actually looks like a fusion of the "notebook" style i have and the "default" sytle... hm... maybe something in my headers/ footers?

please help!

was about to ask that too ccbtimewiz -   obviously it has to do with the new browser.
Ive looked at the site in both IE and Firefox and it looks normal, no odd font, tabs, nothing wrong.

No one has said that... it is not a new style.. the forums have not been upgraded.. .nothing has changed except you are using a new browser.  It is probably somethign in that browser..   The forums look different to me in IE then they do in Firefox and that is only becaue of how I have each browser configured  (zoom, text size, etc in my browser settings) ... its not the forums style itself.

as ccbtimewiz has asked (twice now)  what browser are you using?

I ran it in Flock and in Chrome, chrome came up fine but Flock was kinda weird.

I think I know what he's saying, its a bit like a combined thing of his notebook them and the default skin. Like the titlebg are the default but the catbg's are another skin. And that the tabs are a mixture of the two. I would check your CSS or style switcher code... thats all I have to offer, really.

Sharps post just led me to something.
It has to do with the styleswapper code and which stylesheet you have set as the default.   I had not checked your styleswapper and did not realize that was what you were talking about.

For instance:
If the style you have set as default has an image set as the background for the catbg area and the other styles do NOT they are still going to show that background image.

There is a way to fix that, although it does take some work on your part.
You need to look hard at your default style.   Look at what areas in it use background images, including the tabs.
Then for each of the stylesheets for the alternative styles you need to edit those areas and add this to them (for each area):

background-image:  none !important;

For instance:

The Default style uses an image for the catbg areas.
The alternative styles do not.
Edit each alternative styles css and in BOTH places where the background image code would normally go put:

background-image:  none !important;

That will solve the issue.
Remember:  you will have to do this for any area that has an image set in the Default Style but does not have one set in your Alternative styles.

There is a post all about this in the Stylesheet Swapper thread.
