Converting Downloadable Styles to CSS
« on: December 20, 2008, 06:25:52 am »

I was wondering how you can take the styles from simplemachines (with the authors consent -- sib  ;D ) and then turn it into css.

I know that some other people did this earlier with some other styles so i was wondering how to do this so i can turn some of those styles into css for you guys to use (once again, with the author's agreement  ;) sib )

thanks!

We learned how CSS works.
We asked for the authors permission
We did the conversion ourselves. It's just...manipulation of code. If you know CSS it is very obvious how to do it.

I said it is hard to do for some themes,  that is not true for all , but for most it takes much more work then just replacing links in the css.

As Crasy said... if you know css (and learning that and how the default css works with our forums FIRST is what you should be doing)  then you will know how to use the css from a theme to make a stylesheet that will work for Smf for Free forums.     You will also have to know HTML in many cases as html may be needed in the header and/or footer for the new css to work properly.
