User registration issue

Forum Url: http://glitchpc.freesmfhosting.com/index.php
I just had a member of this board contact me through this site...because I have no means of guests contacting me through my forum.  It was due to a registration issue...specifically, reCAPTCHA.  I have no control over the reCAPTCHA settings, other than to disable it or change the severity of the images.  I tried switching from the medium setting to the simple setting but, it won't let me.  This user also complained that letters were showing up in the reCAPTCHA image that don't even appear on his keyboard...and he has tried to register 9-10 times on my forum.

I had previously started a thread about a Contact Us form.  I, now, have a new issue...

Not having a means of contact on my forum is a real "bummer".  Nobody really wants to use a their own e-mail client for contact purposes...PHP Form Mail is the way to go.  We paid for the upgrade on our account...and it removed the branding and ads...and, also,  gave us extra features but, what we really need is a means for our guests to contact us through the site.

I, initially, thought free forum hosting may be the way to go...but, it looks like it's not all it's cracked up to be.

While the support here is "awesome"...there needs to be more control given to the Administrators of one's own board.  In the interim, I think I've found someone who is going to host my site for free...I already have the domain name and was going to park it here but, as you can see...it's not very likely.

I'm really not one to complain but, as you can see...having issues, such as this one, is not something an Administrator should have to deal with...especially if the issue is not under their control.
All I want is less to do...more time to do it...and more pay...for not getting it done.

Hi Glitch,

Some people do seem to have a problem with the ReCaptcha system and its appeared most times to be on the end users side of things, whether it be a browser issue on their end or something else.   Ive gone to sites that say no one can register on their forum and have registered swiftly and with ease so its difficult to say what the issue is on the users end.   The settings via Registration/Settings do not apply to ReCaptcha (as far as the low/medium/etc) go.   ReCaptcha is a modification added to the software that makes things more secure and you have no settings for that.

The contact form system that you asked about is not something that is an internal part of the smf software.   To even do something like that would require some coding, possibly a modification to the software.   Free forum hosting doesn't give the forum owner access to applying modifications, and many other aspects as they are very real security risks.  That is normal on all free forum hosting services.
