Question about putting forum in Maintenance Mode

I'm somewhat curious as to what happens to a forum once it's put in maintenance mode and walking away.  Does the forum eventually get deleted or what?  Before putting in maintenance mode should i delete all members, boards, topics, etc.??

No it doesnt prompt removal of the forum.
If what you are wanting is the forum removed then remove all posts and topics.   It'll prompt maintenance to remove it at some point.
