Buying a website name?

Is there any way to buy or for free get a domin name? For example instead of http://sickgaming.smfforfree2.com/ we could pay like 5$ and buy a domin so instead of http://sickgaming.smfforfree2.com/ we could make it http://www.sickgaming.net or  http://forums.sickgaming.net/ . I really want this for the new website for my forum.

Currently there is no option on SMF For Free to do that.

However you can go ahead and buy the domains yourself and have them redirect to your forum.

It's on SMF For Free's unofficial "ToDo list", but that isn't written in stone.

Maybe one day he'll surprise us with the feature..but right now I don't know if/when it's going to happen. I'm just the messenger of information I get from SMF ;)
