The moderators are just like you, as the "moderator/Admin" of your own forum. When the members see something beyond your control going on, they look to you, expecting you to know how to fix it. The best thing you can do is come here and put in a word about the problem. Therefore, the best thing the moderators here can do is tell you whatever they hear, when they are told (much like when you get a reply on when your problem might be fixed and tell your members what you were told). It's not fair to expect the moderators to know everything, when they aren't paying for, or holding the hosting account of SMF Forums. One person, and only one person, foots that bill. That's SMF Admin. And you have to be realistic and understand the he has a life as well. So this may not be resolved until tomorrow, or next week even.
I am not trying to be ugly when I say this, but honestly, if people have problems with things not always working and having to wait on a fix - you can easily buy a website and hosting service of your own and set up your own forum. All it takes is a little reading and learning (and money). For people like me, who don't have that money, and don't find it necessary to pay for such a service when you can get it free someplace like this, we're willing to wait it out. So please don't be upset at the moderators for not knowing. They are here to help with what they can. Somethings are out of their hands though.

I totally understand being annoyed though with the problems.
As for the access errors that were being spoken of, I believe those are the Access Violation PH------- errors that pop up from time to time that is being referred to. I get those sometimes, but never longer than 20 minutes in my case.
