Announcments?

I could have sworn I seen an announcment feature in my ACP and I cannot find it now. Not sure what it does or if I thought I seen it and didn't see it lol... But I am looking for a feature that posts a topic on every singal forum area same topic and its an announcment, So say I had a Rule Announcment for my forum I would make this topic and it would be at the top of every forum on my board. lol Does anyone know if we have anything like that here?  :2funny:

If your thinking the Proboards thing, NO.

But there is a thing for "Portal" That announces a topic on the Portal page.

And I think there is something that sends an E-mail to all the members about a new Announcement topic...

You can use your news fader to accomplish this. Just post your rule in your news box and enable news fader from ac panel.The fader appears at the top of your forum on every page.

Yeah, announcements like you are talking about aren't a feature of SMF For Free forums. But that's not why I posted. Time to answer your next two questions.

News Fader: AdminCP->Current Theme Settings
Make sure "Removes UserInfo, Newsbox, Keystats, Search (Default Theme Only!) " is NOT checked.
Make sure "Show news fader on board index" IS checked.

Quick Reply: Current Theme Settings again, "Reset member specific options for all members."

Check the box by "Use quick reply on topic display:"  and set the drop down to "show, on by default"
