Of late I'm getting some ad labels on the front page and boards.  Is this a default feature?

Songbird had you paid for ad free credits before?   If they ran out then the ads would come back.  You can always purchase more.

No sybil, i never purchased any ad free credits.  Those ads have suddenly started appearing since last few days .. don't know why.  Is there anything I can do to prevent them?

You should have been seeing them all along then. Its entirely possible one of your members may have purchased them as they can thru the link at the bottom of your forum.   The only way to remove the ads is to pay for ad free credits.    And yes, it is normal.  Most all forum hosting services do place ads on the forums.

lol!  no sybil, i'm not "vexed"  :)  actually, u know, to be honest, i don't even know what ad credits mean.  Also, I don't know how any of my members could have purchased them.  I can't see any such link in my forum accessible to them.

Songbird look at the very bottom of your forum where there is a link that says:   Upgrade this Forum
If you click there you willl see where you can buy Ad Free Credits to get rid of the ads on your forum.
There is also a link inside your admin panel near the top left if I remember correctly.     The only way , as I said, to get rid of the ads on your forum is to purchase ad free credits.

And the "Vexed" thing... Jessie's name was Vexed Devil here and she just changed it a day or two ago -  I was referring to her  lol

Oh .. okay  :)  Thanks for the info sybil.

Just one more question though I know it's out of this topic.  I've stopped getting email notifications from this board even though I've activated its notification button.  I've also checked the relevant options in 'profile.'   Any suggestions to resolve this matter would be welcomed.

Songbird..  Not sure what is happening but you could try turning on off notification on the boards then turn it back on again and see if that helps you.     Make sure, as Jessie asked, that you have your correct email address listed in your profile here.
